Featured Friday: Many of us are captivated with the vibrant colors of Polish pottery. But we may not realize that it originated with humble beginnings in rural Polish villages to become a symbol of Polish heritage with a story to tell. This unique vintage piece was hand painted in the village of Boleslawiec where the first pottery guild was created in 1511. This back-stamp indicates Zaklady, the oldest pottery manufacturer in the town of Boleslawiec. Drawing on artistic traditions from 1865, the factory was rebuilt and reopened in 1946 following World War II. This vintage black and white pattern was from handcrafted stoneware by Boleslawiec artisans incorporating intricate potato-stamp patterns and motifs with traditional craftsmanship and innovative design, making it a highly collectible piece. Come and find it upstairs at the Second Act in A&W Antique Mall.
