Go follow my new art page on TikTok! Today I made this oil & chalk pastel drawing of the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. I visited this unreal arch in mid-August, and it was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life! The heights, the tricky steps and climbs you need to take to get up there, and the otherworldly views all made me fall in love with this national park. So I came home and drew it! Hope you enjoy this short video I made of the process 😁

I painted this in my junior year of high school for an art show. Took me about 15 hours and was my first wildlife painting! Fun fact: before this painting, I actually considered animals something that I was NOT good at painting or drawing. Now here we are—animals are now the thing that I paint the most, and this tiger is the one that started it all! That’s why this painting will always be my favorite, even though there are parts of it that I would definitely improve.

Still have yet to name this kitty...any suggestions?

This charcoal drawing took me about 5 months to complete...because I took about a 5 month break in the middle of drawing it (oops). This was one of those pieces that was a little bit more difficult, so it scared me into procrastination. But I couldn’t be happier with it when I had finally finished it, and now it’s framed and hanging up in my dining room as a constant reminder that no matter how daunting something is, if you just suck it up and face it, you will surprise yourself with what you can do.

Wouldn’t wanna mess with this guy...
Close-up paintings of wild animals are always my go-to. This Jaguar painting took me a total of 11 hours spread out over a couple of weeks. This wildlife painting was particularly fun because it’s more of an action shot, whereas normally I paint animals still and straight-faced. However, I wanted to add character and meanness to this one. In order to do that, I had to focus on things like the ear being pinned back, the skin on his nose being scrunched, his whiskers sticking straight out and up (instead of drooping the way they would if his face was neutral), and even the way his head is lowered more than normal. It’s not only his bared teeth that make him look mean; it’s the smaller details too. All of those things made this close-up wildlife painting a little bit more tedious and fun for me to do.

I will be selling prints of this painting soon on my Etsy shop!

Dreamcatcher inspired by nature, the forest, and flowers, this piece took me about 7 hours to make, with every twist of gold wire and knot of twine. Flowers are a natural white and yellow, the yellow ones dyed. Every leaf and flower are not real plants, so don't worry, this dreamcatcher will not wither away on you! Everything is secured tightly, ensuring that this piece will last!
This dreamcatcher was made with so much tender love and care, so it's looking for a welcoming home to catch some dreams in!

Sometimes just watching a squirrel nibble on an acorn while walking home from class on a brisk autumn night makes you think about the wonders of earth, the seasons, and all the creatures we coexist with. This drawing, for me, captures those wonders. That weeknight I created this piece and prioritized appreciating nature over the loads of homework I had. I think we should all spend more time doing that.
