What a total success the cooking class and judge certification class was this weekend! We had so many locals involved in the classes and it seemed everyone enjoyed them. We had folks come in from as far south as GA and as far north as Michigan. We among the 42 have several here in stokes county that are now certified KCBS judges and we will put them to work soon in the Fire In The Foothills contest.
I severely underestimated the work that went into this but so many great volunteers jumped in and smoothed it right out. My friends are the best and I’ll stand behind that every day. Thanks so much to SCM, Republican ladies group,King Masons,halliqua barbq team, and all the folks that made this happen. I am thankful!

We had an absolute blast at the WV Coalfields Cookoff - WV KCBS State BBQ Championship. It was our first time competing in an official competition and we walked away with a shiny trophy and some foldin’ money. Our GrateMate BBQ Team placed 10th overall, and won People’s Choice! Thanks to the event organizers, judges, fellow competitors, and everyone who helped make this weekend a success! See y’all next time around!
