Being a vendor isn’t always easy—but it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my small business.

There are early mornings, late nights, long drives, setting up tents in the heat, hoping the weather cooperates, and packing everything back up at the end of the day. Some markets are amazing, and some are slow. That’s just part of the journey.

But the rewards make it all worthwhile.

✨ Vendor events put your business in front of people who may have never heard of you.
✨ They give customers a chance to see, smell, touch, and experience your products in person.
✨ They help build trust and create lasting relationships with your community.
✨ And if you don’t have a storefront, markets give both new and returning customers a place to shop your products face-to-face.

If you’re thinking about becoming a vendor, here are a few things I’ve learned along the way:

🌿 Invest in a clean, inviting display that reflects your brand.
🌿 Bring plenty of business cards, QR codes, or flyers so customers can find you later.
🌿 Smile and talk with people. Your personality is just as important as your products.
🌿 Don’t get discouraged by slow events. Every market is an opportunity to learn, improve, and make connections.
🌿 Network with other vendors. Some of the best advice, friendships, and opportunities come from the people set up right next to you.
🌿 Keep notes after every event—what sold well, what didn’t, and what customers asked for. It will help you prepare for future markets.

Not every sale happens that day. Sometimes someone picks up your card, follows your page, tells a friend, orders from your website or comes back months later because they remembered you. That’s the power of showing up.

To anyone just starting their small business journey: keep going. Every market teaches you something, every customer interaction helps you grow, and every event is another chance to share what you’ve worked so hard to create.

Support your local vendors whenever you can. Behind every booth is someone chasing a dream.
