Bonus Mention #6: Tongue & Groove Ceiling

I had to mention the tongue and groove ceiling because why not?! It's GORGEOUS!😍

It's located in the ceiling of the front porch, the back porch, the carport, and on the front door! Adding tongue and groove is one of my favorite ways to elevate any space. I chose a rich honey stain color to complement the wood in the rest of the home.

✨️The stain color is Early American by Minwax✨️

I hope you all enjoyed the past "5 Days of Design." I can't wait to share more design peeks from other projects as they wrap up in the near future!

#5: "The Library"

We referred to this room as the library throughout the project (even though it only has the one set of built in shelves😅). Needless to say, the name alone was inspiration enough for the vision I had for this room. I knew I wanted to find the perfect green hue for this space. One that wasn't too dark or too light. It ended up being the perfect shade of olive/emerald green and looks even better in person!

Color drenching is super trendy at the moment and I am totally here for it! As soon as you walk in, this room feels incredibly cozy. It gets ample amount of natural light that comes in so its the perfect balance between light and dark and makes the space feel like a nice, warm hug🥰 This room makes the perfect flex space whether you turn it in to a movie room, a sitting/reading room, a kids play room, or a simple bedroom!

✨️The walls, ceiling, and trim are painted in Sherwin Williams Basil✨️

This was BY FAR my favorite spot in the house so of course I saved the best for last! I have enjoyed getting to dive into a few of the design decisions from this project over the past week and hope to be able to share more from other projects in the near future as they wrap up.

As always, you can reach out to me via Facebook, email or phone for all of your interior design needs. We love to make your house feel like a home🏡❤️

#4: The Vestibule

This neat transition space is so simple yet so perfect!👌🏼 This built-in vestibule area acts as the transition between the living room and the kitchen/dining area.

The location makes this area absolutely perfect as a home bar. Imagine hosting parties and having the drinks easily accessible to those hanging out in the living room or the kitchen!

My initial vision for this nook was to have a wallpaper along the back wall with some gold/glass wall mounted shelving and an antique mirrored bar tray on the counter...but at least the home's new owners have a perfect blank
slate they can enjoy however they choose!

✨️The walls/ceiling of the vestibule are painted in Sherwin Williams Coastal Plain✨️

Stay tuned for a few more of my favorite design elements/spaces from The Southgate House over the next couple days. You won't want to miss tomorrow!😊

#3: The Study Room

I would be lying if I didn't say this room had very different plans than how it turned out...

Initially, I wanted to go with a warm, medium khaki shade to tone down the greens and blues that were going on throughout the house. I wanted to go a bit more masculine in this room for a work from home office since the rest of the home was a bit more feminine...

Eventually it was decided that wasn't really working for the room. Sometimes pivots happen during construction and you just gotta roll with it. So I suggested this beautiful, light blue-green hue for the walls and although it wasn't what I had planned initally, it still turned out absolutely gorgeous. Paired with a fun sputnik style light, this room is all set for someone to make in to their own home office or simply use as a bedroom or a cute little nursery🫶🏼

✨️The walls are painted in Sherwin Williams Silvermist✨️

Stay tuned for more of my favorite design elements and spaces from The Southgate
House throughout the week!

#2: Built in Mudroom Nook

This sneaky, multi-purpose nook is stunning and functional! We took a basic closet and turned it into a simple built in mudroom.

A bench for seating with a place below to store wicker baskets for all the kids shoes; Shelving to the left for books in case your kiddo (or you😉) wants to escape into their own little world; and a place to the right where you can add a rod for jackets and coats for the winter time; There's even space to store your broom or vacuum if need be!

The best part...the pocket doors allow you to close off the space from the living room if it gets a little too messy😅 Add a comfy cushion and some throw pillows and this space is good to go!

✨️The entire inside of the mudroom closet is painted in Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige✨️

Stay tuned the rest of this week as I share more of my favorite spaces and design elements from The Southgate House!

#1: The Blue Doors🪺✨️

This was essentially the very first design decision I made. We knew the siding was going to be a beautiful, bright white so the door color needed to be more bold, but not too "in your face."

I had decided I wanted to do a Robin's egg blue shade but from there it was a matter of choosing the RIGHT one. Once I landed on this color, I knew it was instantly the perfect choice. It has a slight gray undertone so its not too bold, and was the perfect balance of blue-green for that beautiful robins egg blue shade.

✨️The siding is Sherwin Williams Snowbound and the door color is Sherwin Williams Festoon Aqua✨️

I can't wait to share more of my favorite design elements/spaces from The Southgate House over the next few days! Stay tuned😊

I'm so excited to present...

✨️The Southgate House✨️

Bright and airy with earthy organic tones throughout, and beautiful brass and matte black accents this home feels warm and welcoming to all who enter through its doors. I can't wait for someone to get to call this their home and officially bring this house into its next era🫶🏼

✨The designer behind the designs✨

I feel like I am way overdue for a proper introduction. To those of you who may not know me, my name is Sheridan Mercer. I moved from North Florida here to Knoxville, TN (5 years ago now) to pursue a degree in Interior Design. I have worked with various builders and clientele from Florida and Tennessee helping pick out interior/exterior selections for entire houses and everything in between!

I have long had a love for interior design so it didn't come as a surprise that I ultimately decided to pursue it long term. I typically draw lots of inspiration for my designs from nature and all the beauty it has to offer! Light, bright, airy earth tones contrasted with deep jewel tones and brass accents are my bread and butter🍞 But, I always enjoy working with clients who may have a different style than my own as well; the diversity of all the various styles are what make interior design such a fun way for individuals to express themselves and tell the story of who they are. Which is what I love most about what I get to do: helping people tell and share their story with whomever may enter their home.

I firmly believe our homes are meant to be lived in. Because every pencil mark you made on the door trim is a memory worth holding on to.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and I know this is just the beginning!❤️
