These two 6x6 mixed media pieces are finally finished with 2 coats of resin. I love how they came out. I used a process called Cyanotype to “photograph” the leaves and flowers on the pages of an old book, added flat gold wire, gold leaf, stencils and acrylic paint.

The first stages of a new cyanotype piece. Cyanotype is an old photographic process in which light sensitive chemicals are mixed and painted on paper. Once dry I expose the paper to the sun with a leaf or flower placed on top. Then the photo is developed by rinsing the paper in water. The result is a white silhouette of the leaf on a Prussian blue background.

Little 5x5 violet print using vintage paper, stencils and brass leaf. These two still need a coat of resin and a few other finishing touches.

It’s been forever since I’ve been in my studio, life just keeps on getting in the way. I felt the need to make some art today so I made a set of summertime coasters. I’m a little rusty but I’m happy with this one.
