Layover in San Francisco from Paris to San Diego today.
When I fly to SF from thr air I see all my whole life.
First my mentor worked for thr top 2 dealers in SF in the 70s one was partners with Eddy Fischer the actor whom was also going out with liz Taylor.
Had 1 of the top galleries and a home with life size Roman Antiquities overlooking the “ Bay bridge” ( pictured here)
He retired with a 69 mil estates and a house in Tiburon.
When he was in His death bed at SF hospital he decorated the entire 7 th floor with 16-17 c. Tapestries.
My mentor drove there Rolls. They had a Yacht that would go across the water( below in this photo) with clients .
However even Rome didnt last forever as I fly another 3 min I find myself off the treacherous waters of SF where I commercial fished for 3 years.
Suddenly my mind switches , faded flashback memories some 26 years ago exactly below this plane at this moment was ME out on the ocean you could drop a rock from this plane now and hit my exact GPS location as the plane angles south parallel to the shoreline about 2 nm offshore of Pacifica San Francisco
I had made it.
My friend was parked next to me in his boat the Carol 40 ft we partied we were part of Historic Fisherman’s Wharf
He told me we don’t have weather /waves down here like we do up in WA
I leave that night on a 5 day trip off SF for A level Wild King Salmon alone on a 1947 wood boat alone
I come back 5 days. Oh Good the Carol is not parked in my spot”
A park the boat a old station wagon pulls up his sister to get what remains who drove down from Washington, then I heard the story
FV Carol was a net boat suppose to respect the 3 mile offshore limit.
He did not , a massive wave came in and rolled the boat someone 2 die 1 swam to shore got
Two experienced fishermen died after the F/V Carol capsized off the coast of Pacifica, California, following a strike from a rogue wave. The two victims who lost their lives in the incident were David Tien, 47, and his cousin Jim Hsu, 45.The fatal capsizing occurred near Pacifica, just north of Half Moon Bay.
