Case Study on Kettering Health Network's Sycamore Hospital: Healthcare interior design can be an effective tool in re-branding an older hospital to change the user mix by attracting young families that might otherwise migrate to a more upscale hospital.

In this project, a major remodel of the hospital entry design and hospital lobby design, the transformation was dramatic and accompanied by many patient-centered amenities as well as process changes such as making access to pre-admit testing more convenient, adding valet parking, a large gift shop and café/coffee bar.

The exam room at Village Family Medicine in Spartanburg, S.C., designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, represents “a new type of exam room used for assessment and consultation,” Jain Malkin Inc. says. “It is devoid of an exam table.
