🦀🌼 Every place has a story. This is Maryland's—told through Hangul. 🇺🇸🇰🇷

When I begin a new piece in my Hangul City Collection, I don't start by thinking about colors or illustrations.

I start by asking myself, "What makes this place unique?"

For Maryland, I kept coming back to its connection to both land and water.
The Chesapeake Bay has shaped the state's history for generations. The Baltimore Oriole and Black-eyed Susans bring life and color each season. The Maryland flag is instantly recognizable, while the blue crab has become a symbol that people around the world associate with the state. Even the mountain ridges in western Maryland tell a different chapter of its landscape.

As I sketched, I looked for ways to weave these symbols into the Korean letters that spell 메릴랜드 (Maryland).

One of my favorite details is the Hangul character ㅁ, which I transformed into a historic Chesapeake lighthouse. To me, it represents guidance, safety, and Maryland's rich maritime heritage.

This is what I love most about creating Hangul art.
Hangul isn't just something to read—it can also become a canvas for telling stories about places, people, and cultures.

My hope is that these illustrations spark curiosity—not only about the Korean language, but also about the places they celebrate.
Thank you for following this creative journey and supporting my dream of sharing Korean culture through art.

💙 I'd love to know: What place holds a special meaning for you? It may inspire the next artwork in my Hangul City Collection.

🏛️🇺🇸 Washington, DC—reimagined through Hangul. 🇰🇷

As a Korean artist, one of my greatest joys is showing that Hangul is more than a writing system—it can also become a beautiful form of art.

For this piece, I transformed the Korean spelling of Washington, DC (워싱턴 D.C.) into an illustration inspired by the city's iconic landmarks, history, and timeless beauty. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to celebrate the connection between Korean culture and one of America's most meaningful places.

Whether you've visited Washington, DC, dream of exploring it someday, or simply enjoy learning about Korean language and culture, I hope this artwork inspires you to see both in a new way.

I'm excited to share more city-inspired Hangul artwork in this series, each one telling the unique story of a place through Korean letters.

✨ Coming soon:
• Digital downloads for framing
• Fine art prints
• Stickers
• Personalized Hangul artwork

If there's a city, landmark, meaningful word, or even your name that you'd love to see transformed into Hangul art, I'd be honored to create a custom piece just for you.

💬 I'd love to hear from you—what city should I illustrate next through Hangul?

Thank you for supporting my journey of sharing Korean language, culture, and art with the world. Your encouragement means so much to me.
