SKJ Interiors is a full-service boutique studio based in Orange County, California. We specialize in designing luxury homes tailored to the nuances of personality, soul, and everyday living. At the heart of SKJ Interiors is a dynamic mother-daughter collaboration between seasoned interior designer, Sher, and Jori, a multidisciplinary artist. Every project is curated with intention—seamlessly integrating beauty and functionality with our clients’ values and personalities to create homes of personal sanctuary, meaning, and inspiration. At SKJ Interiors, enduring beauty is not just aesthetic —it lives in the stories embedded within each design element that truly enrich the experiences of everyday living.

This fireplace was a true collaboration between stone and plaster inspired by the home’s stained glass feature in the primary bathroom (KALOS). Using remnant slabs selected to coordinate with the palette of the room, we were able to add unique combinations of premium stone selections without the price tag! The finishing touch of hand painted metallic grout effortlessly united the materials with the hand applied metallic Marmorino plaster surround custom mixed by Carmen with Ecla Decoration Carmen Ture Orange County CA

Sometimes a detail supports the piece, but sometimes you design a whole piece around a detail. This frameless mirror is the latter— we custom designed it to show off 2 reclaimed hand-cast k***s we discovered in an afternoon’s field trip to J. Nicolas Architectural Hardware & Design — because that patina definitely needed a new place to shine in the world!

Sometimes functionality can be underrated... A question that always comes up is how does this space actually need to work for the client? This little coffee corner keeps everything organized and easy to reach, but it still has personality. That is the balance we strive for.

Introducing “The SKJ Edit” — our new Substack.

A place to slow down and put words to the work: the philosophy behind how we design, the story behind each project, and the process that lives in between the before-and-afters.

The simplicity of the colors and curves of this tranquil room was designed to quietly reflect the stained glass feature and curvilinear form of the adjacent bathroom, not compete with it.

Sometimes comfort is the whole design brief. A plush velvet swivel chair by mid-century icon Thayer Coggin creates a cozy invitation to slow down, take in the garden just beyond the French doors, or sink into a good book.

Color theory is more than an aesthetic choice for us, it’s a wellness one. Blue is a calming color, it slows the nervous system down, mimicking water and sky. This Kelly Wearstler tile adds the perfect touch of calm as a reminder to slow down and take a breath.

We finally got to check in on the chandelier we’ve been dreaming up for an upcoming project, and seeing it in person made all the waiting worth it.

This piece has been months in the making, and there’s nothing like collaborating with true artists to bring our vision to life. Grateful for the genius of our lighting architect ADG Lighting & Metals for fabricating the incredible structure, and for Natalya Seva who has formed and glazed each vessel suspending from these canopies to tell our client’s story.

We can’t wait to show you the finished product!

In this OC coastal renovation, we avoided the classic tripping hazard by flush-mounting the tracks into the floor. It’s a tiny detail, but it’s the secret to making a small footprint feel huge (and saving your guests from a party foul 🥂). What’s your indoor-outdoor must-have?

This fireplace project is the perfect example of the high-impact moment when natural raw movement meets refined contemporary form.
