I'm working on a new series that incorporates both my Petal Books and my photography (Laura Colleen Studios) and these are the fruits of those labors. Literally.

I'm working on a collection entitled The Sisters Keep, a project based on the Fates from Greek mythology. The Fates were the personification of destiny and lifespan, of mortals and immortals alike. I began with images of figs and the Fates gold thread, entwined and wrapped around one another - with the figs representative of life and the thread that of destiny. I moved onto a collection of Petal Books with the same gold thread wrapped around the pieces brimming with life and rot alike.

Coming up next will be the editorial portrait sessions of the Fates themselves, but that will not be until late October. I have plans to create one of my large reliquary pieces of the photo series.

I have separated the complimentary fig images and Petal Books as a small sub series of the overall collection, and dubbed it The Mortal Harvest.

These Petal books and images are some of my favorites of all time. I'm incredibly excited to see the rest of the collection take form.

Series: My Name is Grief
Photo: Saint of the Third Sword
Model: Sam
Photographer: Me

In the aftermath of devastation, beauty becomes ritual. Inspired by the symbolism of the Three of Swords, the spectral mourning fashions of the Les Merveilleuses, and the haunted emotional ruin of Catherine Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights, this immersive artistic experience explores the ways women transform grief into identity. Set within a dreamlike landscape of relics, florals, mourning drapery, weathered portraits, veiled visages, candlelight, and ceremonial adornment, the work examines survival not as healing, but as haunting. Here, heartbreak is not hidden away, it is preserved, displayed, romanticized, and worn openly upon the body like an object of devotion.

Blending historical symbolism with gothic romanticism, the experience invites viewers into a world where sorrow becomes spectacle and beauty emerges from emotional catastrophe. The pierced heart of the Three of Swords becomes mirrored in the guillotine chokers and blood-red embellishments of post-Revolution France, while Cathy’s consuming passion and inability to separate love from suffering lingers like a ghost through every room. Together, these influences create a meditation on visible wounds, feminine resilience, and the dangerous allure of turning pain into something sacred.
