Cheesy Beef Toasted Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 hamburger buns or soft sandwich rolls
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 6 slices or 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, for toasting
Instructions
1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Add the diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess grease if needed.
4. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
5. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef mixture becomes thick, rich, and flavorful.
6. Slice the sandwich buns in half and lightly butter the cut sides.
7. Place the buns on a baking tray and generously spoon the cheesy beef mixture over each one.
8. Top each sandwich with plenty of shredded cheese or a slice of cheese.
9. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 5–8 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
10. Remove from the oven, let them cool for 1–2 minutes, then serve hot and enjoy!
Serving Tip
For the best texture, serve them immediately while the bread is crispy and the cheese is still hot and melted.
