"The Place You Came From" | Acrylic on 88 # Printmaking Paper | Changes Series
Inspired by Terry Pratchett's words — "Why do you go away? So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving" — and the luminous color fields of mid-century modern painting, this abstract expressionist work draws you into a glowing center of light surrounded by deep, layered blues. Loose, gestural marks in amber, rose, yellow, and teal drift through transparent layers and soft stain painting techniques, giving the piece an open, breathing quality unique to works on printmaking paper.
Part of the Changes series — paintings about departure, perspective, and the extra colors life adds along the way.

Saatchi Art is pleased to offer the painting, "The Place You Came From," by Melissa Mcgill, available for purchase at $880 USD. Original Painting: Acrylic on Paper. Size is 30 H x 22 W x 0.1 in.
