Normally you guys get to see the highlights of our rodeo weekends, wins, cute outfits, pretty country, & in all honesty we have been extremely blessed with all the miles we’ve traveled the last few years in not having anything too catastrophic knock us back.
Yesterday we planned for a marathon Saturday aka rodeo & travel all day & night 🤪
The Juniors had a JRRA in Pawhuska, OK at 11am
The guys decided to hit an open Ranch Rodeo on the way home in sulphur.
That was the plan…
9:30 AM a few miles south of the Tonkawa exit the back driver side tire comes flying off the rodeo rig, into the south bound lane & into oncoming traffic 😳 breaking the lugs, & ruining the hub….
I had offered to drive, hopping in the driver seat after everything was loaded & fueled up, Will has been wore out and I thought if I would drive the morning he could catch up on some sleep. Luckily he had woke up right before the Stillwater exit. The game day traffic had cut me off multiple times.
We were talking, just cruising really. Will was ready to drive he’s not a very good passenger princess. 🤣 I refused to pulling into the Stillwater exit with all the people and this trailer. Will agreed Tonkawa would be fine that’s our normal stop when rodeoing in Pawhuska.
We nearly made it there until we didn’t 🫣 we made some phone calls, Jason & Whit turned around to come snag Riggin & the Horses, I hopped in with the McPhails who weren’t far behind, and left Will on the side of the Road to figure something out. 🤪
Around 2:30 Will finally made it to Pawhuska to watch Riggin’s last event, he had found a sweet couple who could fix it in Ponca City and we could bring it home same day but it would be later in the evening, they were such a blessing, but we knew sulphur was a no go.
We tried to make the most of it we grabbed some dinner at the Mercantile, stopped by Osage outfitters & the bucking Flamingo before we got the call to head back to Ponca City only to get to the trailer and catch one of the horses in a bind. Quick trip to a friends house on the outskirts of town to grab some meds, another stop for some electrolytes & to snag our truck.
We are extremely blessed yesterday could’ve had a lot different outcome than it did & the Lords protection was over us for sure. I always say it but we honestly have the best friends who are there in a pinch or will help us find who or what we need to get us back on the road & safe.
It was still a marathon just a different one than we expected or planned for, making it home well after midnight.
always thankful for our crew but yesterday was a rough one & if you’re here for the real ride it can’t be all roses and rainbows 😘
The Slash K Cattle 13U ranch rodeo team won the branding event, super proud of this little crew, bright things are in their futures 💕
