A day late, but here’s the last post for January with x .medium challenge. I couldn’t make up my mind what style I wanted to use so I practiced a few different ones along with several composition ideas. I was distracted by having my middle son coming to visit with his younger siblings while they watched anime 📺.

This challenge invited me to practice Textura, a Gothic hand that I’ve been wanting to try for a long while. Well, I had a taste a few years back at an IAMPETH Virtual, but never kept at it to build the muscle memory. This attempt definitely is rough but I’m glad I went out on a limb and gave it a try. We all start somewhere, right? And how apropos is this quote for trying something new? I just followed my instinct and was very glad that I hadn’t stifled my creativity by sticking with what I always do.

Such a great challenge and I hope to learn more in this month’s challenge.

C O U R A G E to L O V E …

So many people hurting because of what’s going on in our nation and I’m no different. My heart aches for the many innocent people ripped from their families, murdered, detained …. But I take courage and solace that God sees and knows all.

He is a God of truth and righteousness will prevail in His perfect time. Even while Jesus walked the earth, people questioned His authority and what His plans were to deal with government. I love that Jesus came to show that His kingdom is different from what mankind thinks. His truth speaks differently. His Light shines in a dark world, even when it seems darkness is all around.

I don’t have the answers, but the sovereign Lord of all does. What the enemy meant for evil, God can make good out of it.

I can’t pretend this world isn’t in great turbulence, and that my heart doesn’t ache for the people of Minnesota. I can’t ignore the cries I’ve heard, the violence I’ve seen across news media and pretend these aren’t real people. God made us to care about one another. Regardless of nationality, color or creed, we are our brother’s keeper.

Here is my entry this week for with and .medium …

Yes, I obviously made a mistake in the word “imperfect” and when I realized it, I thought this was the ‘perfect’ way to demonstrate the beauty of imperfection. Be sure to swipe and read my thoughts behind my process.

Also, I struggled to get the center of the panted rose right. I added a bit to much water at first, and when I dabbed with a paper towel, I made the mistake of thinking I could add paint right away. After dabbing out the muddled area a couple times and rushing to fix the center, I decided to do the calligraphy first. As an afterthought, I added a few strokes with my nib to help define the flower petals. What do you think? Which version do you like best - digital or analog?
