Never give up and give yourself permission to be a beginner are two phrases that have encouraged me as an artist. I’m so excited to finally feel like I’ve grasped the concept of Jen’s beautiful wedge brush florals (Jen Sweeney - Watercolor • Artist • Instructor) and truly grateful to use her brushes that help my brain remember which way is belly up.

Joining Nana 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔 | Handmade Watercolor and Dawn Dawn, Singapore Calligrapher for and as you can probably tell, the prompt was Craftsmanship. Can’t tell you how many times I started over, even in pencil and still messed up. But that’s what craftsmanship is all about - not stopping until it’s right. The beauty of what we as artists make with our hands comes from deep within. Our hearts connect to our hands and we create something others can enjoy.

Thanks for hosting this challenge ladies - it is indeed a challenge. I originally had in mind to make this like a word cloud - something I learned from a class with Carol Fountain Nix. Questioned myself halfway through the main word, got distracted by having to make dinner and pick up the kids from school, came back to it and felt rushed. But I’m glad I pushed through it to get it done.

Happy World Calligraphy Day to all my fellow calligraphers (sorry I’m a day late).

So happy to participate with in the challenge with Nana 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔 | Handmade Watercolor and Dawn Dawn, Singapore Calligrapher for their challenge. Although I probably should have only written Calligraphy, I hope this phrase still counts. Loved using Willow for this piece, and I’ll share some of my past works in my stories.

The artist in me can’t help but create….here’s a hot foiled bookmark made for my one-on-one calligraphy client as a gift. When she told me she left her last session feeling empowered, it lit a fire because is my mission.

A special Mother’s Day gift made into a keepsake…

Come along with me as I engrave this Giorgio Armani perfume bottle gifted to me by my son. As a mother, keepsakes hold a sentimental place in my heart and I’m so grateful to be able to create an heirloom piece that can tell this story of a son’s love even after I’m gone.

Making tangible memories and sharing joy through connection, hand engraved gifts and storytelling are why this art form has such an impact from start to finish.
