🥓 Meatloaf is our Pattern of the Month for October! It's a quilt named after comfort food, and as I lie on the couch as some sort of slug post shoulder surgery, comfort foods and cozy quilts are exactly what I'm looking for.

🥓 Meatloaf is a scrap happy quilt. It's designed so that when you make it, you're making two blocks at a time one for you and one for a friend. It's a great one for a block swap or a small group exchange, but it also just makes the quilt go@faster when you're making it by yourself.

🥓 and it's a scrap buster. The way to make everything work together (we have birds in rain boots, double gauze, florals, plaids, all of it) is to have one thing per block that feels consistent. For Meatloaf that's the neutral colored strip across the middle, aka the bacon! Because bacon makes everything better.

〰️ Short months really do live up to their name. How is it the end of September already?

〰️ It's like Mother Nature flipped a switch and we're very much into fall. I'm not one for doing super specific holiday quilts that often, I like more this-quilt-has-that-vibe. And Weftovers always feels like a fall quilt to me.

〰️ We showed the first Weftovers quilt before this (the lime green, hot pink, and purple batik one) but this version out of Alexia Marcelle Abegg's first Warp and Weft for ★ RUBY STAR SOCIETY ★ has always felt like a great match between fabric and pattern. The wovens feel warm and cozy and cuddly, and it all works.

〰️ But after teaching Weftovers this summer in Oregon, it really works with tons of styles of fabrics. People had repros, Kaffe, patriotic, some Tim Holtz, they were all fun. I think the key to making it work is to make sure that you have contrast between the rings that the blocks make.

〰️ I hope you find the prettiest jelly roll in the bunch for your project.

〰️ Weftovers the first is lime green and hot pink and turquoise batiks. I've seen 2.5" strip sets that would work for this colorway, but our was strips cut from our stash.

〰️ Our Pattern of the Month for September is Weftovers!〰️

〰️ We set up the Pattern of the Month to show off patterns that we think get overlooked, but Weftovers isn't in that category. It's been popular and we've made it a couple of different times. But with new faces around here you might not have seen it.

〰️ If you're in our newsletter list then you've seen it and have a code to save on your pattern this month! And if you're looking for a project for National Jelly Roll Day on September 19th, then Weftovers will work for that too.

💕 It looks like some people have discovered our Painted Ladies quilt. So here's the rundown of everything you need to know when you make yours:

- It was designed because of the opening sequence of Full House
- The little appliqué trim (either scalloped or zig zag) is of course optional and still looks cute without it
- But if you do the appliqué, there are no rules and raw edge or turned are both great
- The doors and roofs are fun places for fussy cutting like ghosts in the door for Halloween or reindeer on the roof for Christmas
