I've just returned from Bogotá, where I witnessed the incredible power of community and resilience in the face of adversity. The outpouring of support from Colombians to help those affected by the Aug 10th earthquake was incredible. I was also deeply inspired by the work of Fundación Maach Den, a Colombian nonprofit built by and for the Wounaan Nonam communities in both Bogotá and Chocó.
For 12 years, I've had the privilege of working alongside Wounaan Nonam families, who have become an integral part of the Tulia's family. Their breathtaking woven art even inspired our logo! Their ancestral communities, nestled deep in the Chocó rainforest, are only 85 miles from the epicenter and were severely impacted by the earthquake. These communities were already living with limited access to electricity, internet, and healthcare. Now, a majority of their homes are uninhabitable.
But I believe that together, we can make a difference! We now have two ways to support the Wounaan. 1. Purchase any item from the TAVWE Jewelry collection at www.tulias.com, and 50% of the purchase price will be donated to the Maach Den Foundation. Wear their art with pride, knowing you're supporting a culture that has overcome colonialism, internal displacement, continued armed conflict, and illicit mining. 2. Make a monetary donation to - simply type COLOMBIA in the comment box of their donate page. All donations will be given to . Follow them on Instagram for their latest updates. 💛💙💗 Üu Ajim - Gracias - Thank you
