Class Description
Discover the colorful and creative world of stained glass in this beginner-friendly 6-week course with instructors Laurali Manieri and Gail Youngman. Designed for adult beginners and students ages 16 and up, this hands-on class will introduce students to the basics of stained-glass art using the copper foil technique.
Throughout the course, students will learn how to safely use stained-glass tools, cut and grind glass, apply copper foil, solder pieces together, and finish their work with cleaning, polishing, patina, and hanging techniques. Students will also explore basic design principles, glass colors, textures, and project assembly while building confidence with each step of the process.
By the end of the course, students will complete two stained-glass projects, with the possibility of a third project depending on pace and class progress. Project options include beginner-friendly coastal, nature-inspired, and decorative designs such as a mermaid, turtle, anchor, leaf, beach umbrella, hot air balloon, wave/sun, starfish, and moonlit sky.
This course is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try stained glass but did not know where to begin. Students will leave with completed artwork, a foundational understanding of stained-glass techniques, and a starter kit of tools to continue creating at home.
