Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, Australia 🇦🇺

One of the biggest highlights of our Australia honeymoon was spending the day snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns. The boat ride may have been rough, but seeing one of the Natural Wonders of the World up close made every second worth it.

A Pennsylvania food pyramid would have pretzels, pierogies, chips, and whoopie pies holding up the whole operation, because around here carbs are not a side dish, they are load-bearing architecture. The middle would be scrapple, Lebanon bologna, red beet eggs, chicken pot pie with noodles, and ham and green beans, also known as “things your grandparents considered a light lunch.” Near the top you’d find birch beer, Tastykakes, peanut chews, funnel cake, and a pickle that somehow came with the meal even though nobody asked. And at the very tiny top, barely visible, would be a sad little salad leaf labeled “for decoration only.” Balanced diet? Maybe not. Pennsylvania diet? Absolutely.
