We decided to hire a pole barn company to complete the shell for us so obviously prices will vary tremendously if you contract it out yourself. ur costs do include labor. Since we don't have any local contacts yet, we felt it was best to have someone take care of the building for us, then we take over to build after shell completion!

Our costs also include CEDAR! This is definitely not economical but it's sexy.

I'm creating a series for costs to build so next I will go over septic, electric, well drilling, mezzanine framing... not in that order but here we go!!

I have an idea what we are going to spend in total... what is your guess for a completed barndominium??!!

This is how much YouTube paid me for my most viral video ever.

The video is called I Bought an Abandoned Tiny House and shows the renovation journey of an abandoned tiny house I bought in my village.

In the first 40 days after it was uploaded, the video got 277 views and made $1.19... so not quite enough to retire on.

Then, on the 9th of March 2022, it began to blow up and over the rest of the year, it received 13.9 million views and made $64,532.02.

YouTube themselves even commented on the video which was a real dear diary moment.

In 2023, it made just under $13,000

In 2024, it made just over $9,300

In 2025, it made about $8,000.

And in 2026, so far, it has made $3,276.

In total, since uploading this video, it has received 21.5 million views and made $98,122.06.

If you're on the fence about starting a YouTube channel, applying to be on the Great British Bake Off, getting onto the FBI's most wanted list... you should go for it. You might end up where you want to be.

How much did my abandoned tiny house cost, and is it on Airbnb are the two questions I've been getting asked the most, so here are the answers.

The house cost me £55,386.

The renovation work was £62,708.

The kitchen, windows, doors, and furniture was £19,462.

Solicitor and admin costs were £11,968.

And to get water and sewage connected, it was £8,319.

Here's the broken down costs if you want to pause.

Overall, it cost me £157,844, but the house has since been valued at offers over £170,000 which is crazy, but it's a unique property in an expensive area.

The second question people had was, is it on Airbnb?

The people of TikTok were annoyed at me for this, but it is on Airbnb.

I did live in the tiny house for two years, then moved out and started renovating another old building which I now live in, and the Airbnb helped fund that renovation. I was also able to hire my Mum to manage the Airbnb so that's been nice.

I've found that people get divided about it being on Airbnb with some people calling me a kn****ad and saying I should sell it because there's a lack of affordable homes, and then other people saying it's not really an affordable home, and that because I took a risk on the abandoned building, I can choose what to do with it. I understand both viewpoints. So, leave your votes below on whether or not you think I'm a kn****ad.

I used to walk past this abandoned tiny house every day on my way to school when I was a little boy and it always intrigued me, but unfortunately, no banks would give an 8 year old a mortgage, so I had to wait until I was 26 before I could finally buy it and turn it into my first home.

When the renovation started, it was just a disused building packed to the brim with forgotten items. It had no insulation, no heating, and no water, but step by step, it slowly transformed into a cosy home I could be proud of.

It took a lot of time, effort, and money - I mean, I think the rule of thumb with renovations is to expect them to take twice as long and cost twice as much as you initially plan for - but it was definitely worthwhile in the end.

At the end of the renovation, I put the whole journey on YouTube and the video ended up going very viral, meaning I was able to quit my job and go full time as a content creator.

In my next videos, since it's something people always ask, I'll reveal how much the tiny house cost to buy and renovate, how much YouTube paid me for that viral video, and also address something people were a bit raging about in my last video, so follow along to see all of that.

This house really is the gift that keeps on giving.

We're back at the big house, and this time the bathroom is the mains event for (water closet Wednesday)!

Tons of pink tile. Gold swan hardware. An enormous shower. A tub set right in the middle of it all. And, for absolutely no reason other than commitment to the unique vibe, a random phone in the bathroom

Every room in this house has its own personality, but this one might be the loudest!

Each year we do this, we dye our pond pretty

blue, and my nephew had told me that when you do this that it keeps us next way whether it does or not I don't have a clue, but we've only had two snakes in all the years we've had this pond that we have seen, but and we keep an eye out on it pretty good

but anyway, we will show an update tomorrow.

Demo day turned into a trip down memory lane. Stripped the understairs cupboard back

to nothing and found a tiny toy ambulance hidden behind the panels. Knowing the previous owner was a nurse made it feel so much more significant. Just a little piece of her story tucked away in the walls.

MDF dust is the new dry shampoo, apparently!*
