Dog Food Cost
I’m curious what everyone feeds their Goldens ? We have been using Purina Pro Plan for years it is what the breeder recommended, but the cost is becoming absurd. So I’m looking to come up with a lower cost alternative. I have 2 Goldens a 1 year old female and a 6 year old male. They each get 1 can of wet food mixed with 1 cup of kibble 2x a day. The cost is getting out of hand. Currently wet food is $320 a month and dry food is about $50 a month. So before they get any treats or toys we are already spending $370 a month on food. We need a cheaper option I’m currently putting 2 kids through college. Inflation has been crippling to pet owners. Between food prices and vet costs almost doubling in the last 4 years it seems like pet ownership is becoming something only rich people can afford.
Off topic question for heart worm medication someone had mentioned to me they use farm animal ivermectin from Farm supply store for heart worm medication. He said he has been using it in his dogs for decades. It is far cheaper then prescription heart worm medication dosing by weight can easily be found online. Does anyone in here do this ?

It’s been a little while since we got all the dogs together. My only complaint is that it is too hard to get everyone in frame and looking in the same direction. Clover(top left) knows she is the only good girl. Everyone else is a butthead or a slobber monster.

If you haven't tried already, most dogs understand pillow fights.
My older dog is nervous and often runs to hide if i accidentality do something that maybe could be directed at him.. like stubbing my toe causing the door to bump a tiny bit, or maliciously dropping a pen. Hit him with a pillow though and its immediately 'how dare you!' and we're play fighting beautifully.

Tried with my teenage puppy who's a bit princessy and only likes rough play on her terms, will go off and grump if i do anything she doesn't like, like picking her up, so i didn't think to try with her as it didn't feel like her vibe. Hit her on the head with a cushion yesterday though and immediately she's 'outraged' and having the best time ever.

If you haven't already, hit your dog with a pillow today and see how they react.

I accidentally dropped my phone on my dog’s head today, does he know it was an accident?
I was taking pictures of my dog while he was sunbathing in his bed when my phone slipped out of my hand and fell about a foot onto him. I feel awful even 12+ hours later. Does he know it was an accident, or does he think I did it on purpose? I tried to calm him down with pets and a treat afterwards but he just walked away from me and went to sleep on his other dog bed

Letting your dog sleep with you
It’s the greatest thing. I love having this angle cuddled up with me at night and love waking up feeling her pressed against my back, belly or legs

But this morning I just had the best experience. I had a late start to my day so we’re just chilling in bed and she goes back to sleep and of course starts dreaming

Her little legs and paws were twitching like crazy, she was huffing and growling, because she was right next to me I could see that her eyes weren’t fully closed and could see her eyes darting around. I think she even started digging in her dreams as her front paws kinda moved in that motion

I love these sought of things, they’re just be best experiences
