Documenting these two Derek Weisberg ceramic face masks feels.. anthropological, magical, delicate. Like I’m in Steven Spielberg film.

work encapsulates personal experience, grief, loss. An Oakland native in NYC. His work springs from the California/Bay Area ceramics tradition practiced by John Mason, Peter Voulkos and Steven de Stabler.

These 2 pieces are now on the site and they’re so fun to look at, have for immediate viewing pleasure (ie: media console or bookshelf) and TOUCH! “The Loop” is 2 lbs and kinda fits everywhere perfectly. It’s iron and can be maximalist or minimalist.

The Richard Rothbard sculptural box is smooth, sensual and can hide little treats inside. I’m a big fan of working with wood by hand. It’s gorgeous.

Organic in form with a smooth, speckled glaze and free falling accented paint, this ceramic has a place on any surface. How somebody hasn’t SCOOPED this work up in their loving arms I have no idea! I have fully appreciated its presence in the meantime. There are 2 forms available. GORGEOUS and in prestine condition.

Doing my with cast aluminum cantaloupes. This work has some weight to it and always finds the best light IMO. Go see it with studio lighting on our site. Never disappointing to photograph.
