My printer can only handle paper up to 17 inches wide, so recently I've been sampling some products from different shops for larger prints. Here is the 1917 World Map at 24in x 32in - I think the quality is great and I'm excited to start offering this larger size on my website.

Chipping away on a series of hydrological maps. Three states (CO, NE, TX) down, 47 to go! I'm using the National Hydrography Dataset and symbolizing (mostly) by Strahler stream order. But due to inconsistencies with how data is collected, I'm also utilizing the Total Drainage Area metric already present in the data. The basemap is rendered in Blender with a subtle blue color ramp.

Leadville 100 (run) race map: This is the first in a series of reimagined race maps that I'm super excited about. I tried to keep the map's focus on the course while providing some context of the surrounding landscape, as I've found that many of the currently available race maps trend heavily towards minimalism. Targeted to both past finishers and aspiring runners, there's an option to add finisher information (date, name, and finish time) in the lower right-hand corner.

Just finished up this restoring this world map from 1917. Designed by the (somwhat) famous cartographer J. Paul Goode for the Rand McNally Atlas, it uses a few interesting map projections that aren't as common today. The eastern and western hemispheres use Lambert's Azimuthal Equal Area projection, and the polar regions use a stereographic projection. I had to fiddle with some projection parameters - defining different central meridians and latitudes of origin - to correctly line up the digital elevation models with the original map, but I'm quite happy with the end result! The global DEM and bathymetry data is from GEBCO.
