Dear current and former foster youth…what has happened to you is NOT your fault. Your circumstances were defined by choices made by others. You are strong, resilient, and deserving of so much more. You have the capacity to rewrite your story. Don’t allow someone to tell you who you are, but rather decide who you want to become. And just know I will be here cheering you on along the way ❤️

I used to believe that squeezing the most out of every moment was synonymous with busting out every single item on my to do list. But the squeezing I am talking about today is different. I am talking about taking the time to notice how intensely blue my son’s eyes are, the way my youngest snuggles into me while reading, my daughter replicating a recent piece she saw me draw, that beautiful sunset, or taking the time to drop everything and visit with a friend that unexpectedly showed up at the house. These are the moments that make life sweet. These are the moments I want to relish.
