Princess Zelda helped me start some seeds today. I consider what we did today a form of chaos gardening considering hardly any of the seeds we started made any sense for this time of year. We started blue lace pole beans, acorn squash, date palms, yellow 4 O'clock, Passion vine, papaya, mimosa, cotton and a mystery hibiscus from seeds that were sent to my great-grandmother in 1970. Let's see what happens!

Fermented chicken food, what is your experience? I fed them right after I made this and they loved it! We're going to give it a few days before I start making big batches just to be sure. But so far so good!

BABY UPDATE! It's looking like 2 magpie, 2 tri, a harlequin and a lightly marked harlequin like their mother. There were 7 but now there are 6 and I cant find one so im assuming it didn't make it and was disposed of... But the other 6 are beautiful, healthy and active! This first time mom is doing an amazing job! Excuse my gasp I'm very excited! But I had to leave Zelda's narration in there. Why did she have to say "bald head" like that?! 🤣

Today I got all the roosters we butchered yesterday settled in at freezer camp. My vacuum sealer took a crap on me three birds from the end so I had to put some in freezer bags but we'll get that figured out 🙄 I used the roosters as stew Birds since there isn't really a whole lot of meat on them. So I packaged them whole and take off the next and wing tips to put in a separate bag. I use those when I make bone broth.

I had a " you know you raise chickens" moment this morning. We processed roosters yesterday, felt something squish through my toes while doing morning chores and went back to find a testicle....😬

There is no reason to keep mean or extra roosters. Why make them someone else's problem when they can feed your family? All the thunderdome occupants went to freezer camp today. They were all hatched here by us, they had a nice easy life and now they are going to good use.

Next round in! 15 blue turken, 6 brown turken, 3 zombie, and from our mixed flock 16 of our mint green and 8 big beautiful brown eggs. Can't wait to see what comes out!
