We’ve been deep in renovation mode lately, working on so many fun things: we’re tearing out an unused wine cellar (above 👆🏼) to make a cozy reading nook, we’re finalizing design specs for a kitchen remodel in Athens, are underway on a master bathroom overhaul in Madison, presented a plan to rehab a barn that used to house a horse and buggy…to name a few. We love this particular niche of interior design! Investing in a home that you already have a rich history in is so special. Alternatively, having a vision for a new home that has potential, but needs some finessing takes a lot of courage, too. In both scenarios, we take the utmost pride in helping our clients be good stewards of their homes through thoughtful updates. It’s a most rewarding process! Have a GOOD Friday my friends!

Some old things made new, and some new things improved✨ We dressed up these family wingback chairs in a funky, fun new print and gave the Ballard counterstools some extra pizazz. They had me doing a happy little jig all afternoon. Just a taste of what’s to come in this home!

Last night I had some girlfriends over and we made vision boards for our year ahead…not because it is an important ritual for any of us, but because I had no less than 50 design magazines piled in the corner of my bedroom that were begging to be thumbed through. I was reminded how refreshing it can be to create just for fun. Pair that with the sweet laughter and conversation of friends and I’m headed into my weekend with my cup filled all the way up!

I hope you have a warm spot to gather with people you love this weekend. Here’s a space we designed for that inspires warmth, comfort, and relaxation 🪵🔥

Two very non fashionable things in my home bringing me unreasonable amounts of joy lately:
1. Abe was gifted this silly little cowboy made of seashells by his Gracey, whose wacky and whimsical gift giving is so perfectly suited for a three year old. He makes me giddy every time I pass him by, saddled there amongst a rock that Abe found to be important and a collection of other precious miscellany. I hope my children always collect random things that make them happy.
2. I’ve been wanting to get rid of this cheap Target cabinet since I bought it. It was the only thing that fit in our teeny living room at a much smaller house and now it’s filling an otherwise empty corner. When Christmas decor came down, it sat bare for a few days because Winnie is at the age of snatching anything on a surface she can reach. I just positioned a favorite flea market lamp with a wonky shade that needs replacing on top of some old decorating books that would probably advise against this entire setup. I keep glancing at this little corner and noticing how the lamp light frames the cabinet below and illuminates the Woman at the Well by Chris Cook above and this fragmentation of light just makes me happy in the simplest of ways.

Both serve as a reminder that perfection probably isn’t the aim and not to take it all too seriously. Happy Monday, folks!

I can’t lie - I’ve been a little Grinch-y this season. I’ve been tired, overstimulated and overwhelmed. But a beautiful refrain keeps playing in my head 🎶 The weary world REJOICES! 🎶 What a promise to cling to! Christmas will still come in spite of my measly efforts and we have good reason to celebrate. Merry Christmas week to you, my friends!

What is it exactly that makes time go by so fast this time of year? Is it the shorter days, the full calendars, the constant reminder to “soak it all in” because next year will be different when kids are a year older, loved ones are gone, etc etc...? I’m still processing that it’s Thursday and not Tuesday, while wondering where the month of November went. It’s hustle and bustle, all right. I hope you find some time to unwind this season.

Here’s a lovely lakeside porch we designed that would be perfect for just that 🪵☕️🧣

🍂 Something about adding a bit of rich brown tones to a room makes me feel like I’m on the receiving end of a hug. Something I could definitely use this week as I’ve returned from vacation to the internet being down all day yesterday and Canva crashing as I work on a 60+ page presentation today 🙃 Is it too late to go back to the days of writing “paper tickets”?

In my brief moment of stillness at 6 AM this morning, I was reading a Substack about observing beauty and it said something to the effect of - if you’re being chased by a cougar across the rim of the Grand Canyon, you probably won’t notice its beauty. After a weekend of Urgent Care visits, cooking dinner with both kids yelling, stopping Winnie from climbing the bookshelves for the 10th time, talking Abe down from a meltdown over his yogurt being opened the wrong way, etc, etc, I feel like I’ve invited the cougar into my house. And soon I’ll load it in the car and take it to work with me 😅 I think the point of the article was that some things can be stop-you-in-your-tracks awe invoking beautiful, but beauty can also be found in most things if you’re intentional about how you observe or perceive it. While raising small children (and running a small business) sometimes feels like you’re being chased by a predator, so much of it shows me the magnificent beauty by the hands of our very creative creator. I just hope I’m not too busy to miss the Grand Canyon in it, ya know? How are you intentional about perceiving beauty in your day to day?

Anywho, here’s a dining room we gussied up at

Augusta has filled our walls with life and color like we’ve never seen before! You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see her work in person and meet the talented artist herself. I think you’ll find this body of work to speak to both ends of the spectrum of playful and serious, vibrant and soothing, dynamic and restful. The scale and subject matter will transport you. It’s something you should experience - trust me. Bring a friend for an evening or fine art, conversation, and lite bites! I hope to see you there! 😘 RSVP via the link in bio.

In the meantime as we anticipate opening night next week, keep an eye on our stories for a special interview with Augusta to learn more about her background, process and inspiration!
