As I get older I find I’m much more selective about what tools I want to use in my kitchens, sometimes ‘off the shelf’ just doesn’t cut the mustard. Fortunately my brother in law is a bloody excellent craftsman. Hand made, end grain, exact size… what else could a cook want. Thanks mate.

Quite the day with my personal tour guide .crene 😂 walked the stopped .pizza which was delicious, outstanding dough then onto Times Square, Central Park and finished with which is a tiny little Italian place. Linguine Vongole was good but the highlight was eggplant wrapped around goats cheese and baked with tomato and pesto. Properly delicious. Tonight is and I can’t wait.

The options for eating in NYC are almost endless fortunately on this particular night I had a local chef touring me around this amazing city and we ended up , without a doubt one of the best food moments I’ve had in many many years. Pastrami on rye and matzo ball soup. Simple perfection and a unbelievable experience. If you’re ever in NYC trust me when I say…. Eat here.

Yesterday… apparently a LA institution burger and ‘animal fries’ really don’t know what to say but those that know me can tell by my lack of commentary… also octopus, not bad, but mine on my grill is better😂just saying… Here I come New York look out. very very good. Missed the pics of the steaks but beautifully cooked. Highlight was the PIEL DE POLLO DORADO which is crispy chicken skin with blue cheese espuma and pickled jalapeños… crazy good. Albacore tuna with strawberries 🤷, and lamb meatballs with lemon yogurt. All around excellent… dunno about the strawberries and tuna thing but I won’t be getting over that chicken skin and blue cheese thing anytime soon.. outstanding

This is the quality photography you get after a 14+ hour flight with a 4 hour delay on top for kicks… I couldn’t be bothered finding something so I did what I imagine a lot of travellers do.. find the place close before collapsing into a coma. Ahi tuna tostada with avo purée (not bad, a little under seasoned) fried calamari, mayo dip was good other dipper was so sweet, all up meh… and lamb ‘lollipop’ as it was called on the menu, expertly seasoned and cooked. Photography will get better I promise… coma is calling
