Heyyy hive 🍯!!

Beth and I had a blast yesterday at the Great Lakes Fiber show! I met the legendary Twisted Hatter aaaand Andrea Williams from Wickedly Handmade!!!! We waited in line for nearly 4 hours, and my back is still sore as hell but it was so worth it because look at the beautiful hook I scored!! It’s a 3 eyed amethyst cat and I am absolutely flipping obsessed. I’ve already used it and while it is a lot heavier than I’m used to, it fits perfectly in my hand and I love it already. I also scored a few beautiful skeins of hand dyed yarn, one from laughingcatfibers that is just simply stunning. No plans for those yet, but I can’t wait to make something with them. We met a lot of really sweet people and I got some advice for my stalled hexi cardigan project that has renewed my motivation to start working on that again when I get home, which I’m super excited for! Even though I don’t use stitch markers much, I saw these stellar ones from alleghenyfiberarts and couldn’t say no. Overall it was a lovely day spent meeting some great people who share my love for crochet and fiber arts in general.

Heyyy hive 🍯!!

I was just reminiscing with Beth about the time I made a bunch of super pretty sunburst granny squares with all different colors and just happened upon this lovely memory of crocheting with my first girl Petra. Wasn’t she a beaut? I never made anything the squares, but the good news is I’m pretty sure I still have them! Might be a project I need to resurrect in the future. What do you think? 🤔

Heyyy hive 🍯!!

Today i traveled to OH and finally met my home girl Beth! Some of you may remember Beth helped with the BGBKD social media for a bit. We met in an adhd yarn swap group a little over a year ago. We bonded quickly and have basically been besties ever since. She has been there for me through some tough s**t and today, I actually got to give her a hug 🤍 we will be venturing to the Great Lakes Fiber Show on Saturday and we are both super pumped! I’m looking forward to meeting some other crochet baddies and will be on the hunt for a custom crochet hook. I’ll be sure to post some pics from the show! Till then, bee good. 🐝🤍

I’m sad to see the weekend come to an end because it was a good one. I got to see my niece score 5 goals at her first soccer game of the season. I got to spend some time painting with her and her brother. AAAAAND I got to give them their iPad pouches and they loved them! Look at these adorable faces 🥰

Heyyy Hive 🍯!!

Sorry I’ve been MIA. Life has been lifing pretty hard lately so I’ve taken some time away from my crochet hook and instead have had my nose buried in some great books. Currently about halfway through both The Choice by Nora Roberts and A Court of Silver Flame by Sarah J Maas and love them both. My love for reading was renewed at the end of 2025 and I am so flipping happy about it. Like crochet, reading helps my mental health tremendously. The world is on fire and as an empath, my heart is breaking for so many people. Escaping into other worlds gives me a break from reality and lately that has been more important than ever.

With that being said…guess what today is.

It’s 🌎 World Book Day!!! 📖 Don’t worry, I didn’t know it was a thing until about 5 min ago either 😂 When possible, I try to get hardcover books. I always take the dust jacket off because I like seeing the binding. Trouble with that is it can be difficult to keep the covers clean. I don’t know how I didn’t think of this before, but the pouch I made for my iPad, can also be used for books! I get that this pouch is the same you’ve already seen, but how cute is it with a book inside?!!?

Heyyy Hive 🍯!! I can’t express how much I love this yarn (well, as long as I don’t have to frog, that is a nightmare)!! My nephew’s 8th birthday is this coming weekend. 🤍I really wanted to make him something and have been dyinggg to see how this vibrantly stunning/beautifully loud yarn would work up, especially after the pink and blue yarn from my last project came out so cool (both are Big Twist Rave from Joann Fabrics {{RIP}}and is very hard to find). I really enjoyed making my granny square iPad pouch last week so I’m making one for him. I think it’s going to come even better than the last one and seriously can’t wait to show you all when it’s done.

Speaking of the project I made last week, I’m so flipping proud of myself for finishing it! Now don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a complicated pattern for me, but I sometimes struggle with completing projects before moving on to the next. Now that I think about it, it’s probably because lately I have been focused on more medium-large sized projects and I tend to get bored easily. Which is why my WIP (work in progress) pile is always too high 🤣 What can I say, sometimes pretty colored yarn calls my name and begs me to make something with it. Colors make me happy (even though my wardrobe is 98% black🤣), who am I to deny myself such happiness?

Ok, I’m rambling. Anyways, I’m wicked proud of myself for finishing that project and I’m excited to finish this one in the next few days!

Also - Eric and I have been watching Dragon Ball Z Kai and this episode was so good!!

Check out my gorgeous new iPad pouch!! Isn’t she a beaut?! I really had fun putting this one together. It didn’t take long at all and I can’t even see the spot with the hard color transition from blue to pink 🙌🏻
