This is a dream come true for me to open a home decor store in Marco Island, Florida. this is a place that brings joy to my life. Having this as my Second location is also a great accomplishment. My husband is the rock that helps to design and build our Vision of the store. We have 8 children and 8 grandchildren and love them all to pieces. Professionally I have been in the healthcare field for the last 20 years. I started as a personal trainer, and a registered massage therapist, and then went on to study osteopathy which I’m still practicing. Another passion for me is real estate, because of my love for homes and helping people buy or sell and be a part of their journey. It seemed fitting to get my real estate broker license. I love to decorate, inspire, and motivate people to create a space that is warm and inviting.

What began in Ontario, Canada, grew into our beautiful store on Marco Island, and now we are thrilled to announce that Home Sweet Home is coming to Midtown at Bonita!

For Tony and me, this business has always been about more than beautiful things. It’s about creating spaces that feel like home—warm, timeless, welcoming and uniquely yours.

Our new Bonita Springs location will bring together everything we love under one roof:

Rainy season home prep

The worst time to discover a problem is in the middle of a storm, with the rain already coming in and every hardware store closed.

Do these now, while the weather is still on your side:

Clear gutters and drains before the next storm, not during. Leaves and debris are exactly what turn heavy rain into an overflow down your wall. Ten minutes of prep beats hours of damage control.

Check window seals for leaks. Run your hand along the edges and look for gaps, brittle rubber, or old caulk pulling away. A small seal failure is cheap to fix now and expensive to ignore.

Lift stored boxes off the floor. Anything on a garage, storeroom, or ground floor slab should go up on a pallet, a shelf, or even a couple of bricks. Water finds the lowest thing in the room, and cardboard has no defense.

Run the aircon on dry mode to fight humidity. This is the underused setting. It pulls moisture out of the air without freezing the room, which is exactly what you want on those damp, grey, non air conditioned days.

Watch corners and closets for early mold. Look behind furniture, inside cabinets, and along the ceiling edges of exterior walls. Early mold looks like faint grey speckling and wipes away easily. Late mold does not.

None of this takes a full weekend. Most of it is one afternoon, and it's the difference between a rainy season that's just inconvenient and one that costs you.

The five things to clean weekly

You don't have to clean everything every week. Nobody does, and pretending otherwise is why most cleaning routines collapse by the second Sunday.

Skip everything else and still have a home that feels clean:

1. Bed sheets. Nothing else gives you that much comfort for that little effort. Fresh sheets can make an entire bedroom feel reset.

2. Bathroom, specifically the toilet and shower floor. These are the two spots that go from fine to unpleasant fastest. Handle them weekly and the bathroom never gets away from you.

3. Kitchen sink and counters. An empty, dry sink makes the whole kitchen read as clean, even if the pantry is chaos behind closed doors.

4. Floors in high-traffic areas. Entryway, hallway, living room. Not every room, just the paths people actually walk. This is where dust and grit collect and spread.

5. Trash, all of them. Not just the kitchen bin. The bathroom, the bedroom, the little one under the desk. Missed bins are the quiet reason a house smells stale.

That's the whole list. Everything else, windows, cabinets, baseboards, under the sofa, can genuinely wait for your monthly or seasonal round.

The point isn't to do less. It's to spend your limited time on the things that actually change how your home feels, instead of burning a whole Saturday and still feeling behind.

What "deep clean" should actually include

"Deep clean" is not a regulated term. Anyone can put it on a price list, and what you actually get can range from a very thorough regular clean to something genuinely different.

So before you book anyone, ask if these are covered:

Behind and under appliances. The fridge, the stove, the washing machine. This is where grease and dust quietly build for years, and it's the first thing skipped when a team is rushing.

Inside cabinets, not just the fronts. Emptied, wiped, and dried. Wiping only the doors is cosmetic.

Grout, not just tile. Tile wipes clean in seconds. Grout takes scrubbing and time, which is exactly why it gets left. It's also the thing that makes a bathroom look old.

Aircon filters. Pulled, washed, dried, reinstalled. This one affects the air you breathe and your electricity bill, not just how the room looks.

Baseboards, switches, and door frames. The horizontal ledges nobody looks at and everybody touches. Dust and fingerprints live here.

Here's the honest part. A deep clean takes real hours and real labor, so if a quote comes in suspiciously cheap, this list is usually what's missing. You're not paying less for the same work. You're paying less for a surface clean with a better name.

Save this before your next booking, and ask the questions upfront. A good team will answer every one without hesitating.

Three textures, one room

Ever look at a room where everything matches, everything is clean, everything is technically right, and it still feels flat? Like a photo of a room instead of a room?

Texture is almost always what's missing.

When every surface shares the same finish, the eye has nothing to hold onto. All smooth, or all soft, or all wood, and the space goes quiet in the wrong way. The fix is simple: three textures minimum, in every room.

Something woven. A basket, a jute rug, a rattan tray. This is the one most homes are missing, and it's the one that adds instant warmth.

Something soft. Linen, cotton, wool. Cushions, a throw, curtains that actually fall. Soft things absorb light and sound, which is a lot of what makes a room feel comfortable.

Something hard. Ceramic, wood, metal, stone. A vase, a bowl, a small sculptural object. This gives the eye somewhere firm to land.

The best part: you don't have to change a single color. Keep your exact palette, cream on cream, neutral on neutral, and just vary the finish. The room gains depth without gaining noise.

That's the whole trick. Same colors, more depth.
