Since we've gained quite a few new followers during our travels, I thought I'd share a little about myself.

While many of you know me as "Lisa" from Bayous to Backroads, I'm also a licensed residential contractor and swimming pool builder here in Louisiana.

After returning home from our RV adventure, I've been busy designing new pool projects and helping homeowners create their own backyard retreats. It's a different kind of adventure than traveling, but I enjoy seeing a project go from an idea on paper to a place where families will make memories for years to come.

Today was Red Beans Monday for us!

Mondays in Louisiana mean red beans and rice. And for me, it isnā€™t complete without a dill pickles on the side because thatā€™s how Iā€™ve always eaten it! But itā€™s not just me. Serving pickles with red beans and rice has long been a tradition in parts of South Louisiana.

Standing beneath these historic tall ships at Sail250 New Orleans, itā€™s hard not to imagine the journeys theyā€™ve made and the stories theyā€™ve witnessed.

Today we remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom so I'm sharing a few pics from our trip to Arlington Cemetery.

The rose left behind symbolizes love and remembrance.The rocks placed on headstones are a quiet way visitors let families know someone was there to honor and remember their loved one.

This Memorial Day, we remember the fallen, honor their sacrifice, and never take our freedom for granted.
