A hangar home isn’t just a house with a really big garage attached. ✈️

And designing one requires thinking about a lot more than whether your airplane fits through the hangar door.

How will you move from the aircraft into your home after a flight? Where will the flight bags, headsets, luggage, tools, and gear actually go? Can you see your airplane from the spaces where you spend the most time? What happens if you upgrade aircraft five or ten years from now?

These are the kinds of decisions that can completely change how an aviation property functions and they’re much easier to make before construction begins.

In this week’s blog, I’m sharing What Every Pilot Should Know Before Designing Their Hangar Home, including the details I think aviation families should consider before their plans are finalized.

If a hangar home is somewhere in your future, save this one. There are a few things you may not have thought about yet. 😉

Designing for the aviation lifestyle looks a little different every day.

One day I’m working on plans for a custom hangar home. The next I’m walking an airpark property, sourcing furnishings for an aviation residence, designing a private hangar or pilot lounge or flying into an FBO and thinking about how the space could better serve the pilots and passengers walking through it.

Because aviation spaces shouldn’t just look good.

They should understand the people who use them.

How pilots live.
How they entertain.
How they work.
How they travel.
And, of course, where the airplane fits into all of it. 😉

From hangar homes and aviation residences to private hangars, pilot lounges, FBOs, and airport spaces, Aeroview designs interiors around the aviation lifestyle.

If aviation is part of the way you live or do business, send me a DM. ✈️

"Our floor plan is finished. We just need help picking selections."

I've heard this several times recently, especially from homeowners planning custom homes.

The truth is, a finished floor plan doesn't always mean the design is finished.
Before construction begins, there are hundreds of decisions that shape how your home will actually feel to live in from the flow between rooms and natural light to storage, furniture layouts, lighting, and the transition from your hangar into your home.

These aren't just "nice-to-have" details. They're the decisions that help prevent costly changes later and create a home that truly supports your lifestyle.

In my newest blog, I pull back the curtain on what really happens before construction begins and explain the difference between Preliminary Planning & Concept Design and a Construction Selections Package because they serve two very different purposes.

If you're building a custom home or hangar home, this is one conversation you'll want to have before the first wall goes up.

Today, this is just a field with pecan trees.

But on the plans I'm holding, it's already home.

One of the most rewarding parts of designing an aviation residence is standing on the property and seeing what doesn't exist yet. The morning coffee on the porch. The walk from the house to the hangar. The guests arriving for a weekend fly-in. The airplane waiting just steps from the back door.

That's what a preliminary planning package is really about.

Before construction begins. Before permits. Before materials are selected.

It's about making sure every building on the property works together, every view has purpose, and every square foot supports the lifestyle you're building.

This project includes a custom residence, a private hangar, and a guest cottage all thoughtfully planned to fit the family's vision and the property itself.

Watching that vision come to life on the very land where it will soon be built is something I'll never get tired of.

If you're dreaming about building an aviation residence, don't start with finishes.

Start with a plan that works for the way you live.

Pilots spend a lot of time thinking about where they're going.

The best homes help you enjoy where you are.

When clients describe their dream aviation residence, they rarely start with finishes or furniture.

They talk about drinking coffee while watching aircraft movements.
Opening the doors on a summer evening.
Feeling connected to the sky even when they're not flying.

Those are lifestyle goals not design styles.

And the best homes are built around those moments.

This week's blog explores one of the biggest factors that influences how an aviation home feels throughout the year.

Sorry, I can't hear you... I'm kinda busy. ✈️

Busy flying to a project.
Busy putting Aeroview signs in front yards.
Busy drawing floor plans.
Busy obsessing over airplane decor.
Busy helping pilots create homes that are just as intentional as the life they've built.

Just another day at Aeroview. 😉

People often ask me two questions:

✈️ How did you get into interior design?

✈️ Why aviation?

The answer is a lot less straightforward than you might think.

What started as a passion for creating beautiful, functional homes eventually led me into a niche I never expected: designing for the aviation lifestyle.

As I became more involved in aviation, I realized there was a huge opportunity to help pilots and aviation enthusiasts create homes that truly support the way they live not just beautiful homes, but hangar homes and aviation residences designed around their lifestyle, aircraft, hobbies, and long-term goals.

Today, that's exactly what I do.

At Aeroview Design Co., I help clients design luxury hangar homes, airpark residences, pilot retreats, and aviation-focused living spaces across the country.

In this Q&A, I'm sharing how that journey started and why I believe your home should be designed around your lifestyle not the other way around.

Are you dreaming of building a hangar home someday? Let me know where. 👇

May was full of momentum. ✨

New blog posts. New content every week. Site visits. Design concepts. Project progress. Client wins.

And behind the scenes? Even more exciting things are taking shape.

One of my favorite parts of this month was seeing a furnishing project come together and watching months of planning turn into a home that truly reflects the client who lives there.

As we head into June, there are new projects on the horizon, more aviation lifestyle content coming your way, and a few things I can't wait to share.

If you want the full behind-the-scenes look, project updates, design insights, and what doesn't make it onto social media, my newsletter is where I share it all.

We design it the other way around. ✨

Whether it’s how you entertain, where you unwind after a flight, or how your home flows with your aviation lifestyle. The best homes are designed around the people living in them.

This reel breaks down 5 ways your lifestyle should be shaping every design decision from the very beginning.

He left for an international business trip
and came home to a completely transformed house.

This project started as a furnishing + styling refresh, but the goal was bigger than just making it look good.

We wanted the home to finally feel elevated, intentional, welcoming, and fully reflective of the life he’s built.

From the living spaces to the guest rooms and theater room, every detail was designed to create an experience the moment you walk through the door.

Seeing his reaction made every delivery day, design decision, damaged box, late night, and styling adjustment worth it.

This is why I love what I do.

✨ Full project reveal is now live on the website.
