Are you still living with a 'b**b light' in your hallway, laundry room or even a bedroom?

Say goodbye today (or, I'll give you until tomorrow). 😄

There are so many great alternatives for those awful builder-grade lights that are sold in packs of 10 (literally).

So, here's your 'to do' - remove those lights and put up a new option (and it doesn't have to be expensive) to begin elevating your home (and helping you love it again).

The Hobby Lobby stems that scream "fake flowers".

✨️ Not every fall stem at Hobby Lobby belongs in your centerpiece. Some stems just read cheap no matter how you arrange them.

Here's what to skip on your next trip as you put together your fall centerpiece:
❌️ Anything with plastic-molded leaves (the shine gives it away under any lighting).
❌️ Anything in neon...bright orange, electric yellow, etc...just stay away.
❌️ Pre-bundled bouquets- absolutely not.

Instead, go with:
✅️ Stems that are more muted in color
✅️ Stems that are a little imperfect (stems in nature are not all uniform).
✅️ More greenery-forward with natural looking branches or wildflowers.

Happy Decorating! 🍂

✨️ Curtain Do's and Don'ts ✨️

✅️ Do: Hang them high
❌️ Don't: Hang the rod directly above the window trim
➡️ Aim for as close to the ceiling as possible

✅️ Do: Go floor length
❌️ Don't: Leave your curtains floating above the floor
➡️ They should kiss the floor

✅️ Do: Hang them wide
❌️ Don't: Hang them right on the edge of the trim
➡️ Extend the rod 8-12" past the window on each side

✅️ Do: Buy pinch pleated curtains
❌️ Don't: Default to grommet curtains
➡️ Pleats and rings instantly give curtains a more elevated, designer look

Curtains aren't just for privacy, they make your windows look bigger, your ceilings taller, and your entire room more finished.

✨️ Monday Makeover ✨️

Here are three livingroom spaces that got a fresh feel and look without buying all new furniture, and how I did it:

1️⃣ Refreshed with textiles: New pillows, throws, and curtains.
2️⃣ Styled with intention: Used trays, books, candles, and decor to the proper scale.
3️⃣ Updated the walls: New wall art, floating shelves or a mirror added to the space (with proper scale).
4️⃣ Brought in life: Added greenery! Real or faux plants added freshness and created an inviting feel.
5️⃣ Lighting: New table lamps, floor lamps, or wall sconces instantly elevated each room.

Same furniture. New feel. ❤️

Your eyes aren't broken. Paint just doesn't work the way the sample makes you think it does.

Here are the 5 reasons why your paint looks different than the sample:
1. Light direction - north-facing rooms pull cool and gray while south-facing rooms pull warm and yellow.
2. Time of day - morning light and evening light shift the same wall dramatically. A color that looks great at Noon can look flat by 7 pm.
3. Scale - a 2x2" card has almost no color to reflect. A full wall bounces light everywhere, so the color reads far more intense.
4. Sheen - matte, eggshell, and satin reflect light differently even in the exact same color.
5. Surrounding colors - your flooring, trim, and furniture all bend how your eyes read the wall color.

✨️ Comment PAINT and I'll send you my exact testing method so you get it right the first time.

POV: You bought the same builder-grade house as 47 of your neighbors.

Here’s 5 ways to make yours look different.

1. Swap the builder-grade lighting
Lighting is one of the fastest ways to give your home personality. Bye, b**b lights. 👋

2. Upgrade your cabinet hardware
You don’t need new cabinets. New pulls and k***s can make the same kitchen feel much more custom.

3. Add character to one wall
Wallpaper, picture-frame molding, board & batten, or even just a bold paint color can completely change a room.

4. Upgrade your window treatments
Add curtains and hang them high and wide; It instantly makes a builder-grade room feel more intentional.

5. Paint
Walls, an interior door, vanity, built-ins, kitchen island, or even the ceiling. A little unexpected color can give your home major personality without a major investment.

✨️ Your house might have the same floor plan as your neighbor’s, but it doesn’t have to have the same personality.

The #1 mistake most of my clients get wrong is rug size. Too small, and your furniture looks like it's floating in the middle of the room.

💡 The Fix:
Every piece of furniture should have at least its front legs on the rug; all 4 if you have the space. And leave 12-18" of bare floor between the rugs edge and the wall.

That's it! ❤️

3 years ago, I left my comfortable corporate role - the salary, the benefits, and a team I truly loved - to pursue my passion for interior design and decorating.

And I've never looked back. ❤️

Was it scary? For sure.
Am I glad I took the chance? Absolutely!

There were a million reasons to stay comfortable. But something in me knew I had to at least try.

RIP Dolly. 🩷 What a beautiful reminder to be brave enough to go after the life you want.

The furniture didn't change (it just got styled). 👀

The power of intentional styling. Every one of these spaces already had the core pieces; the buffet in the dining room, the fireplace/mantle in the living room, the bed in the master bedroom, the couch and the shelves.

What they were missing were the finishing touches; the pieces that take a space from 'meh' to 'wow'. And the secret - it CAN be affordable.
✨Bedding (with layers and texture)
✨Throw pillows
✨Decor with purpose
✨ The right scale and contrast
✨ Varying heights
✨ Layering

Despite what you may think (or even what you've been told), you don't always need brand new furniture to completely change the look and feel of your home. You just need a vision (and the right pieces to pull it all together).

Share this with a friend who needs to see this; it's a good cheat sheet for the next time you want to refresh a space.

As always, happy to help too! Reach out if you could use a new perspective, a fresh set of eyes, and a plan. ❤️

Fall centerpieces don't need pumpkins to feel like fall (unless you want them 🙂).

This one is built on 3 layers:
1. Height from dried yarrow and brass candlesticks
2. Warmth from a textured vase, candle and wood tray
3. Texture from a wood bead garland, stack of books and porcelain sculpture

➡️ Swap the vase or flowers and the formula still works.

Save this as you decorate for the coming season, and share with a friend!

💡Tip: All this came from Target + Hobby Lobby. ❤️
