5 trends I am putting in real homes this Fall 👇

1. I'm swapping cool gray for chocolate, caramel, and rust in almost every room I touch.
➡️ You don't need to repaint. Trade two pillow covers and one throw for brown tones, or bring in a brown leather accent chair.

2. Clients are asking for warm wood, or wanting to keep their existing wood cabinets, vs. white.
➡️ Can't redo your cabinets? Add wood cutting boards leaning on your backsplash, a wood bowl on the island, and/or wood bar stools. These pieces will warm up your white kitchen.

3. Matching furniture sets are for the showroom.
➡️ Mix pieces from different places to create that collected and pulled together look.

4. Velvet, wool and chunky knits do wonders.
➡️ Pull textured blankets and pillows you already own and layer them on your couch.

5. I am adding game tables and reading nooks to empty corners for families.
➡️ A table with two chairs, a lamp and a checkerboard along with a basket of puzzles turns a dead corner into a spot your kids will love.

Every house has one.👇

The front room you walk past on your way to the room you actually live in.

This one had a chair with a lamp and a couple pictures on the wall. It was positioned as a reading room, but no reading was every done there. It was sterile, bland and not inviting.

✨️ In comes some personality through color, warm layers, real seating, a plush rug, intentional styling and suddenly...it's the room everyone wants to spend time in.

How I turned this bedroom into THIS 👇

Wallpaper + Texture: I started with the walls. Vertical shiplap added architecture the room didn’t have, and the wallpaper gave it personality.

Contrasting Bedroom Furniture: I picked furniture that would stand out against the walls so each piece read on its own instead of blending in and falling flat. Contrast is important.

Lighting: I swapped out the ceiling light fixture and brought in a pair of scalloped table lamps to bring in layered lighting that was too scale.

Layered Bedding: I mixed textures and a few extra pillows to make the bed look finished and inviting. *My bedding always includes a sheet, quilt and a comforter or duvet for that layered look. Add a pop of color in a throw to complete the look.

Style + Organization: I intentionally styled the space with pieces this client loved and brought in different piece of furniture and accessories to help her organize.

Have Honey Oak?

Despite what you've heard or what you've been told, you don't have to rip out your honey oak to love your home again. The right white paint changes everything.

❌ Cool, crisp whites make oak look orange
❌ Yellow creams make it look dated
✅ A warm white with a gray or muted base sits in between. It flatters the wood without competing with it.

Here are my favorite whites to pair with Honey Oak:
✨ White Dove (Benjamin Moore OC-17): A go-to for honey oak. A touch of gray keeps it from turning yellow, so the wood looks rich instead of orange.

✨ Alabaster (Sherwin-Williams SW 7008): Creamier, with a cottage feel. Test it first in rooms with low or warm light.

✨ Greek Villa (Sherwin-Williams SW 7551): Brighter than Alabaster, warmer than White Dove. Great for north-facing rooms.

BEFORE you paint, test your sample right next to the wood and check it morning and night before you commit. Yes, the time of day will change the look of your paint.

Same sofa. Same chairs. A whole new room for hosting the people she loves. 🩷

This room didn’t need all new furniture; it needed pieces sized to fit and some texture to warm it up. The 2️⃣ rules I used:

✨️ Size Matters: Pieces that are too big can make a room feel cluttered, and pieces too small can make it feel scattered or chaotic. A console table with some stylish wall art and decor replaced the very large white cabinet.

✨️ Mix Textures: Pair smooth with nubby and soft with hard. Here I brought in some linen pillows and paired with a chunky knit throw. I also brought in a wood tray and a ceramic vase. ...and don't forget the greenery!Contrast gives your eye somewhere to land.

BONUS: Sometimes a new layout can help you rediscover a space too. 😍
