Grandpa’s Workshop

Grandpa’s Workshop Here is where I will place images of things I have done in the workshop. Recently, I have made 5 Pikler Triangles, boards and arches to sell.

While I am not actively making things to promote and sell, I am willing to construct things for those who ask.

Gifts for the retiring North America Region leaders of marriage encounter. The darker pen set is made with Ironwood from the Sonoran desert of Arizona (they leve is Mesa) and the green set of pens is made from a mix of grape vines and resin (they own a vineyard in California). We have appreciated their leadership over the past many years.

Finally got back into the workshop.

This is a funeral urn caddy I made for a friend’s congregation. Made of cherry which was locally harvested about 20 years ago. The handles lift up just like a casket. A child’s casket would also fit on top.

The Young Living Essential Oils rack I made. Looks pretty good to me. Sue Rufe, thanks for sharing.

This pen is made with a resin which as black walnut shell embedded in the resin. Awhile back, I bought about 7 of these blanks and each one shattered as I was turning the pen. I have to give a big shout out to Woodcraft of Cleveland and in particular, Robert Dedinsky who led the class on casting and turning resin pens. I have taken several classes there and have always walked away with the information I desired (and then some). Robert did an awesome job explaining what I needed to do in order to be successful. Robert Dedinsky - thanks, and keep up the excellent work.

Just starting into resin pens. All the tools and materials to cast my own pen blanks will soon be here.

In the process of making a charcuterie board for a Marriage Encounter retreat. I still have to round over the edges, sand and apply a food safe finish. Darker photo is the completed project with the top rounded over and butcher block oil applied.
