Why Prenda?

My name is Ashley, and I am a first year Prenda Guide. I finished training in the beginning of April, 2020, and I am looking to grow my class ASAP.

When it comes down to, "Why Prenda", I'd like to start with my previous education experience, and a little job history. I have always had a soft spot for kids, babysitting from age 11, teaching Sunday school from 2009 to 2019, and I was a nanny two separate times in the last 10 years to two of the sweetest babies.

I graduated Le Cordon Blue in 2010 and was a Chef for a while. The kitchen life is exhausting, and I was always working evenings away from my family, so I decided on a career change. I worked at a Title 1 elementary school in 2015 as a Special Education aide, and a math interventionist. That year was rewarding and challenging as I saw some students thrive in the public school setting, while others fell behind. I knew then that Public School was not for me, but I still had the desire to be an educator. This is where Prenda comes in. I know Prenda can be the answer to so many other people who want more out of their education, and want to take ownership of their future. When I first heard about this unique school, I immediately looked to enroll my daughter. Then, as I looked further into the school I knew I wanted to be a guide. I want to help children learn in a way that is shown to reduce stress and anxiety, while making sure they meet their milestones, and individual educational goals.

A little more about me, I am a wife and mother. I have 2 small children, my daughter is starting kindergarten with me in the fall and my son is 1 year old. I also have 2 big dogs, a Husky named Artex, and a Doberman named Huckleberry. I have a love for children and animals that probably will never be completely full. I am compassionate, creative, and full of ideas to make this school year a wonderful time for everyone.
