Hi everyone 🤍 I know I haven’t posted much on this page in a while. The last several months of my life looked very different than I ever expected. I stepped away from Crafty Kenzie to care for my mom during her battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), and sadly, she passed away in August.
My mom was one of my biggest supporters when it came to Crafty Kenzie, so getting back to creating is definitely bittersweet. Crocheting has been a comfort and outlet for me, and I’m slowly finding my way back to something I love.
CJD is a rare, rapidly progressive, and fatal brain disease caused by abnormal proteins called prions. It progresses incredibly quickly, and currently there is no cure or treatment that can stop the disease. Before my mom became sick, CJD was something I knew very little about. Now, raising awareness and supporting research for this devastating disease is something that will forever be close to my heart. 💜
That’s why I’ve started making crochet CJD awareness ribbon keychains for $5 each. Every one is made in honor and memory of my mom, Kim Wilson, and 100% of the money made from these keychains will be donated to the CJD Foundation.
These may be little keychains, but I hope they can help start conversations, spread awareness, and contribute in some small way toward a future where other families don’t have to experience what ours did. 💜

If you would like a CJD awareness ribbon keychain, simply comment on this post or send the Crafty Kenzie page a private message letting me know how many you would like. They are $5 each, and I will message you with payment and pickup/shipping information. They can also be purchased on my website craftykenzie.myshopify.com. I currently only have 5 dark purple and 7 light purple on the website, but I will be making more!
Even if you aren’t able to purchase one, sharing this post helps spread awareness about CJD, and that means so much to me and my family.
