We had a great time at MN Masters BBQ & Walkin' Wings this weekend. This event is special to us as it was our first masters contest 2 years ago and helped us make the decision to leave the backyard division after 2 years. Plus - when chasing our only team goal of the year (a brisket category win) it is good to be cooking at a place that has liked our brisket. At this contest in 2024 we finished 2nd in brisket and 2025 we tied for 2nd scoring 3rd. Before this contest we added 2 more 2nd place brisket finishes this year but still chasing the W.

We liked what we turned in and were happy with the results:

11th chicken 🐔 - Springer Mountain Farms
16th ribs 🍖
7th pork 🐖 Compart Family Farms
2nd brisket 🐄 Snake River Farms

6th overall

Congrats to RUB MY RACK BBQ on GC, Spitfire Bar and Grill on RGC and our friends who heard their names called.

Short turnaround as we head to to South Dakota next weekend to cook a double at Huset's Speedway where the Minnesota Barbeque Society Team of the Year Points chase for the Masters division will conclude.

The new Heath Riles BBQ burger seasoning is available!

We were lucky to get our hands on a bottle and have been using it for many meals. Outside of the obvious we have really been enjoying it on eggs and breakfast potatoes.

Heath Riles BBQ Week 3: Ribs

Continued the theme and made a couple racks of al pastor style ribs. They were hybrid cooked starting on the pellet smoker then transferred to a grill direct over the coals to carmelize the marinade similar to what you would get with traditional al pastor in Mexico.

One rack was chopped up to make al pastor tacos.

We also made a pineapple 🍍 jalapeño coleslaw.

Crazy the amount of flavor you can get with just a few products.

In two weeks is the MN Masters BBQ & Walkin' Wings event and they are still looking for teams to compete. This is a great opportunity for a backyard team to give Masters a shot. This was actually our first qualifying masters event 9/2024 and after some luck at this event it helped us make the decision to move to masters full time starting 2025.

If it hasn't been claimed there may be one "free" entry into the masters competition. If interested reach out and I can find out.

If you don't want to compete in Master they also have the biggest and highest paying wing competition in the Midwest supporting a great cause. Where else can you win $1500 for cooking a wing?!?!? Here is the registration link:
