I was first introduced to mosaics in Ravenna, Italy in 2007 where I took an intensive one week class in classic Italian mosaic theory and method. I have since travelled far and wide to learn from various teachers, learn how to use different medium and techniques, and have settled into my own voice by using stained glass, gemstones, minerals, beads, and mirror. I create intricate mirror frames as m

y main focus but like to create fanciful dragons, magic doors, and sunflowers in between the mirror projects - a bit of a palate cleansing! Childhood memories of living in the mountains of Colorado, astrology, quantum energy, sacred geometry, a love of rocks, and an interest in the mysteries of ancient civilizations swirl together to create the playing ground for my inspirations. I adore working with crystals and gemstones not only for their color and beauty, but also for their energetic and metaphysical properties. I begin working on a mirror frame thinking about a specific Chakra energy field and energies that my intuition guides me too. I intend each mirror to have its own energy field that will play and interact with the energy field of the viewer. The colors, design, and materials for each piece are infused with metaphysical intent along with they layers of meaning and function for each piece. The use of mirror is particularly enchanting to me. I use mirror as a function of my mirrors, but also use it to create light and reflection underneath glass and gemstones. This technique is one of my favorites and it creates a bit of joy when discovered. I work from my home studio in Burnsville, MN and enjoy traveling in and out of the United States taking mosaic classes, visiting gem and lapidary shows in search of materials, and studying metaphysical sciences to broaden my understanding of how energy, color, and healing intent can be combined in my art. Two works in progress from days 2 and 3. Both students decided to create a version of the Seed of Life — Isn’t it crazy how adding some lines through intersection points changes the seed completely??

Yesterday I hosted Flower Day for a monthly coffee group I’m in. Not everyone could make it but our small group had a lovely time making wrapped bouquets and a mini mosaic flower.

I want to start offering private group events in my studio and this was a great beta test. The studio smelled amazing and we were grinning ear and so happy to play.

I used curry yellow for the grout and it was perfect! I usually use a complimentary color for grout but wanted to stay within the color palette of the glass.

Whist the grout dried I spent a few minutes auditioning copper embellishments. 🤩 Next is finishing the outside of the circle, embellishing, finishing the back, and adding hanging wire. Then she’ll be ready to take her place next to “Flyover” my nesting golden wormhole piece.

Would you be surprised to know I want to make another one and found some GORGEOUS greens/blues glass??

I mentally thought 1 hour of work was left. It was over three hours. 4 pieces needed to be redone and as I was admiring her I found one more piece in the gray that needed to be redone. That was a bit harder as the glue had cured but worth the effort.

There is one more section my eyes spied and I’m debating if worth the effort to fix it. Can you see it? It’s in the gray ring with a silver mark on it.

For those who take my class, you know my mantra but this time I may go against my own words of encouragement 😉

In any case I am so relieved the center is done. That was really difficult, fussy, and left behind explicatives and way more waste than anticipated.

I’ve spent a good amount of time catching up on some lessons from and her Design School curriculum. I’m challenging myself to not always work with complimentary colors (as you can see in Moon Map’s 5 analogous color palette) and now this beauty in a blue color drench (or monochrome?)

The cabochon and mirror skinnies are from and I’m using Lapis Lazuli procured from for vertices.

I need to find more time to spend in my new studio so I can more done. 🩵💙

Overall the response was pro bug. However, my beloved art friend suggested a smaller one. She also sent me a bunch of glass bugs sometime in the last few years so was able to dig one out. I present a little bug for your input.

Thoughts? This is still a new series in the works of smaller works so input welcome.
