This week is Well-Being in Law Week — and we couldn’t let it pass without saying something.

The legal profession is one of the most high-stakes, high-stress environments in the world. What surrounds you at work matters more than most people realize. Biophilic design — the intentional integration of nature into built spaces — has been shown to reduce mental fatigue, lower cortisol, and foster the kind of calm that makes hard work feel less like survival.

At House of Harstad, that’s not a trend. It’s the whole point.

Our Botanical Concierge™ program was built specifically for professional environments — bringing preserved botanicals into the spaces where people think, decide, and lead. No maintenance. No water. Just beauty that stays, and the quiet it brings with it.

My grandmother taught me the language of flowers before I had words for what it meant to love a garden. That education — quiet, patient, rooted in the belief that beauty matters — became the foundation of everything House of Harstad is.

And my mother supported me with every twist & turn through this beautiful journey.

To the women who teach us to see...to notice...to stop in front of something living and let it mean something, you have made the world a more beautiful place.

Happy Mother’s Day.

A week in Scottsdale. A room full of luxury real estate, extraordinary people, and preserved botanical artistry made specifically for the occasion.

House of Harstad at the Realm Global Solstice event — our first major activation with a partner who understood from the beginning that beauty, when it’s made with intention, changes the feeling of a space entirely.

The arrangements are still there. We’re still thinking about the room.

More on what this partnership means, and what’s coming next, soon.

Biophilic design is one of those terms that gets used a lot and explained rarely.

Here’s what it actually means: it’s the practice of integrating natural elements into built environments — not as decoration, but as a fundamental response to the human need to be near living things.

Research consistently shows that proximity to nature reduces stress, improves cognitive function, and increases a sense of wellbeing.

Preserved botanicals are one of the most practical expressions of this philosophy. They bring the visual and tactile presence of nature into a space permanently — without the maintenance cycle, without the replacement cost, without the waste.

The room doesn’t just look better. It feels different.

That’s what we build. That’s always been what we’re building.

We don’t call them arrangements because we think they’re bouquets.

We call them arrangements because every element is composed. The color relationship between one rose and the next. The arc of a peacock feather against the negative space behind it. The weight of a trailing amaranthus against the stillness of a single anthurium.

Floral design is an art form. It requires the same spatial thinking, the same study of form and contrast and intention, as any other medium.

We treat it like one.

Tonight is the Flower Moon - the full moon of May, named by Indigenous peoples for the wildflowers that bloom in its light.

It felt like the right night to say: every flower in every House of Harstad arrangement was once alive under a sky exactly like this one. Grown, bloomed, preserved at peak - and kept.

The moon changes. These don’t.

April held a lot.

A hectic studio in the weeks before, quietly building something.

Partnering with the dreamy Hayley Paige Bridal for their runway event in NYC.

A weekend in Scottsdale with that felt like everything clicking into place. Arrangements that found their rooms and stayed. A few moments that didn’t make it to the feed but mattered anyway.

We’re still sitting with it because, to be honest, it was what dreams are made of and we haven’t quite come down from cloud 9.

We can’t wait to see what May holds.

House of Harstad exists because a group of extraordinary women decided to show up.

For the work. For each other. For the belief — quiet but unwavering — that beauty built with intention and care is worth taking seriously.

Melanie’s grandmothers, who first taught her the language of flowers. The friends who showed up at the beginning when the idea was still more feeling than form. The collaborators, the advisors, the ones who said keep going when the path wasn’t obvious yet.

And my gosh, those over the last month alone who have encouraged, supported, and uplifted.

This brand is not a solo act. It never was.

You know who you are. Thank you.

A question we get asked more than almost any other: do they smell? The honest answer is: it depends.

Preserved botanicals retain varying degrees of their natural fragrance depending on the flower, the preservation process, and how recently they were made. Lavender tends to hold its scent longest. Roses often retain a soft, warm note. Some flowers are purely visual — their beauty was always more about form and color than fragrance.

What they all have in common is texture. The way a preserved hydrangea feels. The weight of a real petal that has kept its structure. The particular stillness of something that was once alive and moving and has chosen — or been helped — to stay.

Scent is one sense. These arrangements tend to work on several others at once.

Wild winds. Gentle wit. Two worlds woven into bloom.

Wuthering Heights was never just a love story. It was a story about the kind of feeling that doesn’t resolve — that lives in the body long after the chapter closes. We built this arrangement to hold that. A green bi-color rose, a soft carnation, a delicate peach rose, trailing ivy, lush moss, a green butterfly, and a bright slice of orange tucked in like a secret.

Set inside a vessel of our favorite books. Because some stories deserve to keep each other company.
