Busy Wren Creations North Carolina Artist and Chainsaw Carver In 2019 I left behind my career in banking to launch my wood working business.

In the beginning I was hand carving spoons but my curiosity led me to wood turning and more recently into chainsaw carving. I can't believe that I create art for a living and that I have the opportunity to share it with all of you. Thank you for following this crazy journey of mine.

If you’ve ever looked at a chainsaw and thought, “I’d love to learn that someday,” this is for you.

Seven years ago, I was a banker who had never carved professionally. Today, I make a living creating art with a chainsaw—and I’m still learning every day. In fact, I’m a beginner all over again as I learn glassblowing from my grandfather.

Inside the Busy Wren Studio, I want to share that journey.

This isn’t about pretending I’ve got all the answers. It’s about showing you what I’ve learned, the mistakes I’d avoid if I were starting over, and the thought process behind each carving. Why I make certain cuts. How I design a piece. What works, what doesn’t, and everything in between.

If you’re a fellow artist, a new carver, or someone who’s always wanted to pick up a saw, pull up a stool in the shop.

And if you’re a collector who simply enjoys seeing what goes into each piece, there’s plenty here for you too.

Your support helps me spend more time creating, teaching, and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

I’d love to have you in the Busy Wren Studio.

Mark your calendars!

I’ll be carving live alongside two incredibly talented friends at the Masonic Picnic in Mocksville on August 15th from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.

This is your chance to watch three different carving styles come to life throughout the day. We’ll each be creating pieces on site, answering questions, and offering finished carvings for sale.

Whether you’ve been following my work for years or you’ve never seen a chainsaw carving in person, I’d love for you to stop by, say hello, and spend the day with us.

Come enjoy the vendors, the food, the activities, and the sound of sawdust flying!

📍 201 Poplar Street, Mocksville, NC
📅 August 15
⏰ 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Who plans on coming out? I’d love to see some familiar faces!

Every carver starts in the same place—with a block of wood, a handful of questions, and the willingness to learn.

That’s why I created the Busy Wren Studio.

If you’re a fellow artist or just getting started with carving, this is a place where we’ll learn together. I’ll be sharing step-by-step carving tutorials, behind-the-scenes techniques, tool tips, and lessons I’ve picked up over the past seven years as a full-time artist.

I don’t claim to be the best carver or have all the answers. However what I can offer is my experience—the successes, the mistakes, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. My goal is to share those in a supportive, encouraging environment where we can all continue to grow.

The best part? You’ll help decide what I carve next. Members can suggest tutorial subjects and vote on the projects they’d like to see, so the content is built around what you want to learn.

As a thank-you for being here from the beginning, I’ll also be doing a giveaway when we reach our first 10 members, and another when we hit 50.

If you’ve ever wanted to sharpen your carving skills, ask questions, or be part of a community that enjoys making sawdust, I’d love to have you join us.

Let’s create something together.

Your support means more than you know. As a member, you’ll get behind-the-scenes content, creative insights, and exclusive updates. Whether you’re a fellow artist looking for guidance or a collector who loves following the journey, I hope this becomes a place where we can learn, connect, and create together.

I want my Facebook feed to be filled with artists making cool things—not just what the algorithm thinks I should see.

So whether you paint, carve, sculpt, draw, tattoo, photograph, weld, or create in any other medium, I’d love to see what you’re working on.

Drop a photo of your latest piece in the comments, and while you’re there, take a minute to encourage another artist. You never know whose day you might make.

Let’s build a comment section worth scrolling. 🎨
