That a young, ambitious, blues-guitar-playing clinical psychologist and his pretty, free-spirited artist wife would throw caution to the wind and open a tiny store called World Wide Stereo would seem, on the surface, not all that unusual. That this tiny store would not only survive three major recessions and outlast regional and national competitors for over 45 years, but go on to win almost every award for excellence in the industry would, indeed, seem unusual. But then again, that was the plan all along. Bring the world's finest consumer electronics together in one place – no spin-offs, no gimmicks, no junk – and then find the right people to explain and demo the difference. People who don't push, but inspire instead, because they honestly love what they do. From there, recruit schooled designers and installation experts, professionals far and away superior to typical chain store installers. Set new standards for music-listening, home theater, home automation, lighting control, shades, car stereo, and more. After people, policy: keep pricing competitive, and provide customer service even years after the sale. Earn our customers’ trust, never hide from mistakes, and build on integrity. Give back to the community and always follow the credo "do well by doing good." Last, laugh at ourselves as often as possible – and never put a fake gorilla on the street to wave in customers. Then, hopefully, let word-of-mouth do the rest. In many ways, today's World Wide Stereo feels a lot like the 1979 version. (If it ain't broke...) But with the addition of e-commerce, and two luxury showrooms, we've grown up some, too. Though Ron, Gavin, Chad, Dave, Mario, Emily, Frank, and many more – are still here. After all, why would we ever leave?

Today, we raise a glass to Ira Segall as he retires after 17 years with World Wide Stereo and more than 50 years in the audio industry.

A musician, recording engineer, and lifelong student of sound, Ira brought a remarkable depth of experience to our team. What made working with him special was the care he took in sharing it.

When we started our online business, Ira helped bring the personal experience of our showrooms to customers across the country. He was the voice on the other end of the phone, taking the time to answer questions, talk through a system, and help people find something they would love. His customer reviews say so much about his knowledge, his kindness, and the time he gave people.

Ira understood the connection between a great sound system and the way music makes us feel. He has spent a lifetime helping people hear more of what they love, and we’ve been fortunate to share these last 17 years with him.

Cheers to Ira Segall. A class act and one of the best out there. Thank you for everything you’ve shared with our team and our customers. Wishing you a wonderful retirement, with plenty of time for the music you love.

About last night… 🥃🎶

A full house at World Wide Stereo in Montgomeryville for our First Listen evening with Focal. We spent the night listening to the new Scala Utopia Evo M, Diva Alta Utopia, and Mu-so Hekla, talking music, asking questions, and catching up over Old Fashioneds.

Thank you to the Focal team and everyone who joined us. Always a pleasure to have a room full of people who love music as much as we do.

Our very own Ron Rumer is featured in Philadelphia Style Magazine’s October Men of Influence issue, highlighting more than four decades of innovation, expertise and leadership at World Wide Stereo.

As a luxury home technology integrator, Ron understands that the best technology begins long before installation.

Bringing an integrator into a home project early makes it possible to create a space that is as quietly or as boldly technology-savvy as its owner wants it to be, with everything thoughtfully planned, beautifully integrated and effortless to use.

Sonos has added a second pair of headphones to its lineup.

The new Sonos Ace Ultra sit above the original Ace, adding new 40mm drivers, Adaptive EQ, improved adaptive noise cancellation and up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC turned on.

What most distinguishes them is how they work with the rest of a Sonos system. You can move music between compatible Sonos speakers and the headphones, or move TV sound, including Dolby Atmos, from a compatible Sonos soundbar to the headphones for private listening without disturbing anyone else.

Ben gives us a quick look at what sets the Ace Ultra apart.

What Is Dolby Atmos and Is It Worth It?

Stereo gives you width. Surround sound adds depth. Dolby Atmos adds the third dimension—bringing sound overhead and adding a sense of height and dimension that can make movies, music, and games feel more immersive.

So, is it worth adding? Ken Zelin, Hi-Fi & Home Theater Expert at World Wide Stereo, explains why, when the room permits, his answer is absolutely.

We’re back at our Fort Washington project, where this lower level is taking shape with a linear fireplace, OLED display with custom soundbar grille, a mirror TV, Ketra lighting and fully tunable RGBW linear lighting.

Behind the scenes, our electrical team is upgrading the panel and making sure everything supporting the finished space is organized, labeled and safe.

There’s still work to do, but this space is going to be equal parts beautiful and fun.

A beautiful weekend at the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance.

Remarkable cars, great company, and plenty of music.

From our outdoor setup to the Listening Lounge inside the clubhouse, we loved seeing so many people stop in, settle into the music and, in some cases, get up and dance.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance for another unforgettable weekend. We’re already looking forward to next year.
