The hard part is complete. 4 chairs fully assembled. There's still lots of work to do with glue cleanup and additional sanding, but it does feel nice to get to this point.

Tonight I took a few minutes to set up and cut the front legs, pair them up so they will look good and match them with a pair of rear legs. Just a few more steps and it will be time to start the assembly. The seat bottoms and chair backs are waiting their turn patiently.

I hope you enjoy these photos showcasing the progress of the chair making process. White oak is characterized by its light to medium brown hue, often tinged with a touch of olive or golden tones. Its fine and even grain gives it a distinguished appearance, complemented by occasional rays and flecks, as seen in the backrest. This hardwood exudes a subtle elegance and durability, making it a popular choice for furniture and flooring. With a moderate level of hardness and excellent workability, white oak is not only aesthetically pleasing but also a practical and versatile wood.

After getting all of the seats glued up over the last couple days, I was able to get them cut to final size and drew the layout lines for what their final shape would be. But then I couldn't help but go ahead and cut one out. It gets me excited to see them all finished.

Boards for the seat pans have been cut to rough size and bevels cut on the sides that will fold up to make sides of the seat. I can't wait to start working on the seat backs. All of the seats I have done before have been walnut. These made from white oak may be my new favorite.

It's always exciting when I get to work a project for myself. 3 white oak boards are now planned smooth and ready to get cut into smaller pieces for chair bottoms. I don't mind the cold, but I could've used a little more daylight after work today.
