I’m excited about tackling some curved patchwork ideas. I love it when the scrap pile gets used to make such unique designs. These panels will go into a purse as the pockets.

Found this little fellow who inspired one of my moth prints oh so long ago. My older carvings feel like friends, we’ve been through so much growth together. Two of his dots have worn away, parts of me have worn away, but we are both still kicking.

Brought my art supplies downtown today to get out of the house. I’ve been really enjoying drawing note cards to have on hand. Who doesn’t love getting mail?

I I climbed up high today so I could show off the quilt I finished last month. This took 6 years and taught me so much. The backing is a sheet dyed with avocado pits, the wadding is an old blanket and the fabrics are all from clothing and scraps saved from life. It is all hand stitched- whew that was epic. I’m happy to have it in my everyday life and hold all the memories the fabrics store. Did you finish any projects this winter?

I am not tech savvy and prefer to draw on paper. However today I used my husband’s I pad to test out different quilt stitch options for this wall hanging I’m making for my mom. It has been so fun to play with! The stitching can really change the piece. Do you have a favorite?

I’ve been in a serious creative funk. My mom asked me to make a wall hanging for her apartment with a quote she finds meaningful. It’s been a great project to bring me back to the process I love. Art doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated, it’s just there to lean into when you need it most. The person who knows me best knew I needed a spark.

She’s done! I’m so happy with how this quilt top came together. This is the 20 quilt samplers from tutorials surrounded by a patchwork boarder. Every piece is from experiments in natural dyes on scraps of unwanted flour sack towel fabric that I got from a towel factory. Never be afraid to ask for scraps! This project has kept my mind focused on the positive and my hands busy in the best way. Next up I’ll be making a backing and hand quilting it all together. 🌻🌿🪡
