As much as I love working with various insects, beetles will always be my favorite. I find their details so beautiful and surprising. It's amazing, from their colors to their eyes and those with that cute beetle fuzz! They are just such incredible little creatures. I also love the males' ability to pick up and toss their competition; look up videos on YouTube; it’s fun to watch 🀣. Here are two Sawtooth Scarab Beetles fighting over a female with various foraged materials from Centeal, Pennsylvania.

Here is my largest, longest taking to create, and favorite piece that I’ve made to date. It took nearly 8 months to create, from painting/texturizing the background, to raising the Luna moths, to collecting/drying the flowers, and foraging for any missing pieces. It’s a true labor of love and an idea I had in my head for a long time that I could finally bring to fruition. I’m incredibly proud of this piece and she will forever stay in my private collection, however I’d love to make more pieces like this for anyone who would like one. If you’re interested head over to my website and fill out my custom work form. She isn’t cheap, but she’s a show stopper that’s for sure.

Glad I was able to get out and do a little more foraging before the snow decided to come and cover everything. However a good snow day meant that my website got a much needed update, and I was finally able to work on some business items I’ve been putting off πŸ˜…. Dropping off my next set of 5 new butterfly cloches to the today at 2! Just in time for a little holiday shopping for anyone who visits. I have to say I definitely am considered keeping this Buckeye piece for myself πŸ˜…. They are such unexpectedly beautiful little butterflies and I used a pairing of my absolutely favorite mushrooms in this piece, Orange Pinwheels and Gilled Polypores.

I’m looking forward to 2025 and planning what markets I want to participate in. Going out into public with my art always scares me, but I also love talking to others about nature and insects! Why do artists hoard things? For exactly this reason lol. This piece is pretty much years in the making (kinda). Putting to use flowers I got from about 3-4 years ago. I also was finally able to use the insect kit and guide I got from for these lovely beetles I bought from . Along with other foraged items I’ve picked up along my adventures. Pretty happy with how this turned out for my first attempt at anything like this. Also was great to finally focus for the first time in a while with some new ADHD meds! Yay!

Finished these two (and a few other pieces) just in time for and a wonderful head cold that Emme brought home to me πŸ˜…...

Working on some new pieces, they started as plant pot covers however really they can be used to store anything. These were fun pieces to create, also rather challenging to make. I’m hoping as I create more of them I can really nail down the process. Also does anyone know of a good sewing class πŸ˜…. Coming soon to .meadow.hbg πŸ’›
