This one is hard to write. Truly bittersweet.
Yesterday, we were suddenly notified that Painted Tree Boutiques has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and that shop owners would have only a matter of days to remove their inventory.
To say we were caught off guard would be an understatement.
Like so many small businesses, we invested not just financially, but emotionally into our space there. We believed in what we were building. And to have things unfold this quickly, with so little notice, has been incredibly disappointing.
After taking time to process everything, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Boozy Candle Co.
This isn’t how we imagined this chapter ending. There’s a lot of mixed emotion… gratitude, frustration, and sadness. But more than anything, we keep coming back to how thankful we are for the people who supported us along the way.
Every purchase, every conversation, every person who chose to support a small business…it mattered more than you know.
We do still have some inventory left, and if you’ve ever wanted to grab one more candle (or your first), feel free to send us a message. We’d love for them to find a home.

Last thing I’ll say. Please keep other shop owners in mind. This is incredibly difficult for many and supporting them now is more important than ever.
