Meet Blade 🐾

That focused gaze says everything about him—strong, intelligent, and always watching over the person he loves.

I wanted this portrait to capture more than Blade’s handsome features. My goal was to show his quiet intensity and the loyal spirit behind those beautiful eyes. The dark background allowed the light across his face and coat to become the focus.

Sometimes I just can’t help myself…

The owner of this pup has sent me several amazing photos to work from so I decided to paint two!

When I saw this list, six of them immediately felt like me:

3. I color outside the lines.
4. I think with my heart.
5. I make lots of mistakes.
6. I work independently.
7. I change my mind—a lot!
8. I dream big.

All six show up in my life as an artist. I follow my instincts, experiment, make changes, paint over mistakes, and sometimes take a painting in a completely different direction than I originally planned.

But number four may describe me best. I think with my heart—especially when I’m painting someone’s beloved pet. Capturing that pet’s personality and the love their family feels for them is always at the heart of my work. ❤️

And number ten? I’ll always keep dreaming big about where this creative journey might take me.

🐾 How to Commission a Pet Portrait with Me 🐾

Your pet is more than a pet—they’re part of your family. My goal is to create an original oil painting that captures not only how they look, but the personality you know and love.

Here’s how the process works:

1️⃣ Send me a DM or an email through my website.
Tell me a little about your pet and the portrait you have in mind.

2️⃣ Choose your portrait size
I offer several canvas sizes, with one pet included. If you’re not sure which size would work best, I’m happy to help you choose.

3️⃣ Select your reference photo
A clear, well-lit photo taken at your pet’s eye level usually works best. You can send me several favorites, and I’ll help you decide which one will make the strongest portrait.

4️⃣ I begin painting
Using your photograph as my reference, I create your pet’s portrait entirely in oils. I usually choose the background based on your pet’s coloring and the photograph so that your pet remains the focus.

5️⃣ The finishing touches
Once completed, the painting needs approximately two weeks to dry before it can be sealed, carefully packaged, and shipped.

Every portrait is created by hand with great care, one brushstroke at a time. ❤️
