I thought you might enjoy seeing the new 2026 Color of the Year from Sherwin Williams. I included the recent year's archives too and it is always interesting to me that the colors from year to year are so different. Personally, I used Universal Khaki in my home in Bellbrook OH and found it to be a nice neutral that was easy to work with when adding accessories through the years. The 2022 color, Evergreen Fog was very close to the Acacia Haze I used in the North Carolina home. Everyone who sees it is drawn to its calming feel. That trend is what I am seeing in client's tastes. A nice change from all the gray, but a soft, easy to live with color. As always, your opinions are welcome!

Before & After Transformation! ✨

This kitchen was stuck in the past with dark granite, a dated backsplash, and a clunky divider that broke up the space. After consulting with a structural engineer, we opened it up completely — removing columns, evening out the countertops, and bringing in fresh white quartz with subtle black and grey tones 🖤🤍

We paired it with a bold herringbone backsplash (a classic!) and new recessed lighting to give the space a bright, modern feel. Best part? The homeowners were on vacation while it all happened — they came home to a stunning new kitchen! 🎉

A little late on this, but thought you might be interested or have comments on the newest Sherwin Williams Color of the Year. QUIETUDE is a shade of Aqua to my eyes. I have been predicting greens will be the new trend in decor colors. Still the soothing cool look we have seen in blues and greys for the last 10 years, but a little fresher in tone. What do you think?

Today, while reading comments about customer service at a high end store, found complaints about them not providing cleaning instructions for a cotton velvet upholstered chair. The excuse was, they could not assume liability for giving that information. My reaction was disappointment in some in the industry. There is an added cost for shopping for high price goods that you do not have the level of knowledge to decide if the salesperson is telling you the truth or do they even know what they are talking about. And that is okay. You cannot be an expert at everything, especially if it is not your business to know it.

For anyone who is buying anywhere, get a consultation with a trained interior decorator or designer. For $300-$450 you can get a comprehensive education on fabrics or construction of furniture that will pay you back many times. For instance, I have worked with people who think bonded leather is top grain because the salesperson told them so. The opposite is true, it is the least quality cut in a hide. Top grain is the best, very durable and great feel to your hands. Knowing the difference can be worth thousands for one piece of furniture. And, there are at least 5 more layers in a hide at different quality levels. Even knowing the difference in a stomach hide and a back hide is important. Free range or fenced makes a difference. You can find those signs of quality if you know what to look for in a piece of furniture. Please ask an independant professional opinion when spending for "high end" furnishings. You will save money in the long run, every time.
