City in summer with my loves… 🗽

Tomato season is upon us, and I’m wild about this tomato-strewn tablecloth and napkins by our friends - I’m equally crazy about our English-style garden trugs, made of myrtlewood on the coast of Oregon using traditional ship-building techniques. They’re handy for harvesting vegetables and herbs from your kitchen garden, but equally chic as a centerpiece for a summer brunch table. Head to stories for my favorite summer tomato recipe, available on Table Talk, our blog..

Like most of us, I have a love hate relationship with social media. I love seeing photographs of my friends’ kids growing up, their birthdays and graduations and weddings. And I’m definitely a sucker for every white blouse or pair of chic flats that comes across my feed. But somewhere around Mother’s Day, I started to feel a sense of dread every time I entered into the world of Instagram, so I decided to take a monthlong break - algorithm be damned. A digital detox is always a good thing, and I’m glad to be back with renewed enthusiasm for sharing the pretty things we’re bringing into the shop, documenting summer travels (with tips on what I’ve enjoyed in far flung places), and sending out my favorite summer recipes to the folks here who also love to cook. For anyone new to Reed Smythe, I hope this post will welcome you to the shop (and the site) and give you a sense of what we are up to. Happy Summer everyone! 📷 ☀️

I am in love with our strawberry-inspired table just in time for strawberry season in Tennessee. Thanks to for providing the perfect field for carnation-patterned plates from Faenza, Italy, new terre mêlée from Languedoc, our original moss goblets handblown in Vermont. I’m envisioning a dinner that starts with a strawberry & feta salad and ends with a strawberry pavlova. Or a Sunday brunch with fresh scones and strawberry jam. Happy strawberry season 🍓 🍓🍓

A few years ago, my brilliant and creative friend hosted a May Day birthday party complete with a DIY flower crown bar and a real Maypole. I think back often on that beautiful and happy afternoon. Happy May to everyone and may it be filled with new life and blossoming!
