I’ve been looking at the martinis from this collection and I couldn’t help but notice something familiar.

I was 22 and interning for a design job in New York and my dad came to visit. He took me to Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel, and we sat and had a glass of w**e.

I remember him telling me the story of the artist who painted the walls. Ludwig Bemelmans, the artist and author behind Madeline. He created the murals that still surround the bar today. The story goes that rather than being traditionally paid for the work, Bemelmans and his family were given accommodations at The Carlyle while he painted them.

I don’t know why that story stuck with me so much, but it did. I loved the idea of an artist living there and covering the walls with these loose, whimsical little scenes. I loved the imperfect lines and playful figures.

And I loved that night with my dad.

And I see a connection in my release of the Martinis. The loose lines and playfulness. That feeling of not needing something to be perfect for it to be beautiful.

Maybe that’s how inspiration works.

We collect things without realizing we’re collecting them. Places we’ve been. Art we’ve seen. Stories someone told us. Moments with people we love.

A handful of these little martinis from Martinis + Mushrooms are still available through Well + Wonder. 🍸 Shop link in bio.

Ahhh I’ve been keeping a secret…

Years ago, I had my eye on a certain place and thought, I would LOVE to have my work there someday.

Well… someday is here. :)

I’ve been working on a collection for them over the last handful of months, and tomorrow these paintings officially leave my studio and make their way to their destination.

Can you guess where or what city/state they’re going to?

Here’s what I would pair together. Now available to shop Well + Wonder at the link in my bio!

🍸🍄 Honestly, I’m not totally sure how we got here but here’s what I do know…

A mushroom shape started appearing while I was working on a much larger painting. I liked it, so I followed it! Conversations with friends somehow turned mushrooms into martinis + mushrooms… and suddenly I was making twenty tiny paintings of them.

20 original, framed and matted, 6x6 paintings, coming to Well + Wonder on August 19 at 9am CT.

Can’t wait to show you the rest of them!

I cried after locking the doors to Art As Life. Not because I was tired (even though I was), not because it was over, but because sharing this studio space/gallery felt like a dream of mine became a reality. 💗This space is so much bigger than myself. 💗

Artists were seen. collectors connected. Strangers became friends. And I saw how much the stories really mattered.

I love partnering with my girls ro + co design and shop on this yearly tradition, who share the same passion for the idea that art = life.

Thank you for making this group show what it has become. Still processing and forever grateful to the talent and our most special community. ily 🫶🏼

There’s not a day in this studio/gallery that looks the same. Last week was spent finishing commissions, moving pieces around, photographing work, and sending emails to all the Art As Life applicants… which, honestly, I had been dreading a little.

I know how much courage it takes to be an artist. To make something from your inner world, attach meaning to it, and then share it publicly while also wearing the 17 other hats this career asks of you.

What stayed with me most wasn’t just the artwork, but the stories behind it. So many of you shared pieces of your life, your process, your why. I don’t take that lightly.

I truly wish I could include everyone, but scale and curation are the reality of putting together a show like this. Still, I’m incredibly grateful for every artist who trusted me enough to submit their work and be part of this process.

Announcing the participating artists this week 🤍

i spent a couple summers working in New York and fell in love with the magic. One memory that sticks out to me the most was walking around, looking into shop windows, noticing the design, colors, fabric, art, all the tiny details that made a space feel alive. i remember thinking… imagine getting to create beauty like this someday.

nantucket felt like that but done in florals. everything felt thoughtful and expressive and unapologetic in its beauty.

and honestly, i can already feel these colors and compositions making their way into my work. the pinks, greens, textures, the imperfect layering of it all.

i think that’s why art matters so much in a home too. not because it “matches.” but because it reminds you of a feeling, a memory, a version of yourself you don’t want to lose. ✨

Some of my favorite artwork currently available on the gallery walls at Shain Gallery & Well + Wonder. To view, click the link in bio.
