Not sure on what species this is. But I've got a little bit of it. Started out as basically a piece of firewood or log destined for the garbage. Ended up with two Christmas presents for my daughters one's a pin holder for her desk. The other gets a smaller earring catcher or earring place to put her earrings. Gorgeous figure on the wood. Really big fan of what happens to it when you put some Danish oil on it. Danish oil is probably one of my favorite finishes. Right up there with linseed oil and just some good old-fashioned beeswax.
