San Francisco has always known how to reinvent itself, and the city is in the midst of another comeback. New art trails, illuminated landmarks, buzzy restaurants, and revived neighborhoods are bringing a renewed sense of energy to the Bay Area's beauty. šŸŒšŸ„‚

Read on about its new golden age, then let’s work together to plan your next vacation:

New restaurants, buzzy bars, and fresh openings – from JouJou and Frankie’s to the Big Art Loop and A Bathing Ape’s new flagship – are fueling a comeback in this Bay Area beauty.

POV: Your Japan itinerary finally gives you permission to exhale.

Four Seasons Kyoto is the perfect contrast to Tokyo—quiet, serene, and beautifully removed from the big-city energy.

After days of temples, markets, shopping, and exploring, this is where I’d build in time to simply do less.

Is Japan Right for You? šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

If you’re considering a trip to Japan, there are a few things I’d ask yourself first.

āœˆļø Can you give Japan enough time? It’s a long journey from the U.S., and jet lag is real. I wouldn’t fly all that way for a quick getaway—give yourself enough time to settle in, adjust, and actually enjoy it.

šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø Are you ready to put some miles on those shoes? Between walking, stairs, train stations, and exploring busy neighborhoods, your step count can add up quickly. Comfortable shoes are a must.

šŸ—£ļø Are you comfortable navigating a language barrier? English was not widely spoken in many of the places we visited. Patience, preparation, and flexibility go a long way.

šŸ£ Are you open to trying new foods? Japanese food is incredible, but dining can be an adventure—from unfamiliar ingredients to ordering and figuring out what works for you.

šŸŽŽ Are you curious about Japanese traditions and customs? From temple rituals and etiquette to everyday life, being open and respectful makes the experience that much more rewarding.

✨ Are you looking for experiences you can’t easily replicate at home? Sumo, sushi-making, baseball games, temples, markets, incredible shopping—Japan is full of experiences that feel uniquely its own.

So, is Japan right for you?

If you’re curious, adventurous, open to new experiences, and willing to step outside your comfort zone a little—I’d say absolutely.

And if some of these made you hesitate, that doesn’t mean Japan isn’t for you. It may simply mean the right itinerary matters. That’s where thoughtful planning can make all the difference.

Save this if Japan is on your travel list—and send it to someone you’d take with you.

Some of my favorite moments in Japan weren’t the places we visited—they were the experiences we got to be part of.

šŸ£ Sushi class — learning the craft behind omakase, definitely a must for any sushi lover!

šŸ„‹ Sumo experience — a fun insider’s look at one of Japan’s most iconic traditions.

āš¾ļø Hanshin Tigers baseball game — hands down one of the most fun nights of the trip. The energy, the fans, the traditions… such a memorable way to experience Japan.

Three very different experiences, and I’d absolutely recommend all of them.

Which one would you choose?

In the heart of Rome, Hotel Hassler Roma offers a welcome sense of calm, with gracious service, elegant rooms, and aperitivi served just so.

Here are five reasons this storied stay is a must-visit, from its vast wine collection to its enviable location above the Spanish Steps. šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹ā¤ļø

Four Seasons Marunouchi puts you right where you want to be—steps from Tokyo Station and an easy walk to the shopping and energy of Ginza.

Sometimes the best luxury is simply being in the right place.

My first impression of Tokyo? It felt surprisingly familiar—and completely different at the same time.

It reminded me of NYC in all the best ways: the energy, the neighborhoods, and the constant sense that there’s something new around every corner. But it was cleaner, felt safer, and the yen definitely went further!šŸ’°

A few takeaways:
✨The shopping is a destination in itself. Japanese brands, amazing vintage, beautifully curated shops, and of course, the viral finds.

✨Temples and shrines were a highlight. There was something really special about learning the traditions behind them, making wishes, and drawing our fortunes at Senso-ji.

✨The fish market was a definite win—and one I wish we had visited earlier in the trip.

✨ The language barrier could be a challenge at times but honestly, that was part of the fun.

✨ Jet lag is REAL. Give yourself time to adjust.

✨ 7-Eleven came to the rescue more than once. Tired, hungry, and in need of a little pick-me-up? Japanese 7-Eleven’s are the ultimate stop for all the viral snacks and treats you see online.

And that’s part of what I loved about those first few days: not everything was effortless, but figuring it out was part of the experience.

Have you been to Tokyo? What was your first impression?

Japan in 50 Seconds

Over the past two weeks I traveled through Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Okinawa—exploring, eating, discovering, touring hotels, meeting local partners, and taking in as much as I possibly could.

There’s something about being there in person that completely changes your perspective.

Japan gave me a whole new appreciation for what makes it so special—and how I would plan a trip here for others.

Follow along, and I’ll take you behind the scenes of my Japan experience.
